Job Description Virginia Peninsula Community College is a two‑year institution of higher education established as a part of a statewide system of community colleges. It primarily serves the residents of the cities of Hampton, Newport News, Poquoson, and Williamsburg, and the counties of James City and York.
The purpose of the Facilities Services Department is to maintain and extend the useful life of existing facilities and infrastructures, as well as to plan and provide stewardship for new facilities and infrastructure in a manner that forwards the college’s mission. The department is also charged with providing numerous support services to the college community, supporting the VCCS mission, goals, and objectives.
The Warehouse Manager leads and supervises the college receiving, mailroom, and warehouse operations by receiving, surplus, delivering, storing, shipping, and inventorying supplies and equipment in accordance with established policies and procedures.
This position is designated as a Campus Security Authority. All employees are responsible employees and mandatory reporters.
Special Assignments May be required to perform other duties as assigned. May be required to assist the agency or state government generally in the event of an emergency declaration by the Governor.
KSA's/Required Qualifications Working Knowledge of
Contemporary warehouse methods, practices, terminology, standards, and techniques for a wide variety of materials, supplies, tools, and equipment.
Strong knowledge of supply principles.
Common clerical procedures, including filing, typing and record keeping.
Skilled in safe operation of forklift and other warehouse equipment.
OSHA standards, hazardous material handling, and workplace safety.
Warehouse operations such as receiving, storing, shipping, and distribution processes.
Procurement, transportation, and vendor coordination.
Strong understanding of effective leadership methods and performance management.
Strong understanding of effective asset and inventory management.
Skills
Proficient with computer operations and programs, such as Excel and Word.
Ability to
Determine appropriate stock levels, lead times and reorder points based on usage and expiration dates.
Interpret and comply with applicable local, state, federal policies, procedures, and regulations.
Effectively communicate written and oral.
Effectively work with, manage, lead, and supervise a diverse team.
