About the Role Bohler’s Long Island (Melville, NY) office is seeking a Senior Survey Crew Chief to oversee all phases of field surveying, from boundary and topographic surveys to construction layout. You’ll manage field crews, mentor team members, ensure data accuracy, and oversee projects to keep them moving safely and efficiently. This is an opportunity for a hands‑on surveying professional to make a tangible impact on the built environment while advancing their leadership career.
What You’ll Do Lead survey field crews to complete boundary, topographic, ALTA, as‑built, and construction layout surveys for land development projects.
Operate and oversee the use of Trimble Robotic Total Stations, GPS Data Collectors, and related surveying equipment.
Perform field calculations, sketching, and quality control reviews of collected data.
Train and mentor junior crew members on procedures, safety, and best practices.
Download, compile, and verify field data, sketches, and plans for accuracy and completeness.
Manage survey equipment maintenance, field vehicles, and project logistics.
Coordinate project requirements with supervisory staff, engineers, and project managers.
Ensure all field work complies with company standards, client expectations, and safety protocols.
Independently execute complex surveys and manage multiple active job sites.

What You’ll Bring
8+ years of field surveying experience using robotic total stations and GPS data collectors (Trimble preferred)
High school diploma or GED required; college coursework in surveying, engineering, or math is a plus
Proven ability to lead and train field crews effectively
Strong understanding of land development surveying methods, data management, and construction layout
Excellent organizational and communication skills with a focus on quality and safety
Physical ability to lift 50 lbs and work outdoors in varied conditions
Willingness to travel and work overtime when needed
Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation (mileage reimbursement provided per IRS regulations)
Pay Transparency Actual compensation within this range will be determined based on factors such as skills, qualifications, and experience. The base pay range for this role is $33 – $43 per hour.
