Save Job

Software Engineering Manager (Backend SaaS) Canonical is a leading provider of open source software and operating systems to the global enterprise and technology markets. Our platform, Ubuntu, is widely used in breakthrough enterprise initiatives such as public cloud, data science, AI, engineering innovation, and IoT. Our customers include the world's leading public cloud and silicon providers, and industry leaders in many sectors. The company is a pioneer of global distributed collaboration, with 1200+ colleagues in 75+ countries and very few office‑based roles, meeting two to four times yearly in person in interesting locations around the world to align on strategy and execution.

We are hiring an engineering manager to lead the reboot of our Landscape systems‑management solution for Ubuntu. Ubuntu is growing rapidly in the enterprise, expanding from cloud to bare metal servers, vSphere clusters, desktops and devices. While it is easy to deploy and configure one node at a time, enterprises need a high‑quality way to manage policy, compliance, patching and access control across large estates. Landscape has served thousands of deployments, and we now have the opportunity to invest significantly in a team that will give it a fresh new vision.

Our current stack includes Python, PostgreSQL, RabbitMQ, HAProxy and a ReactJS front end. We are moving toward higher‑performance SaaS and on‑prem solutions, and want to raise the bar on architecture, patterns and operations to support global estates across mixed Ubuntu versions and substrates.
