Senior Portfolio Advisor

The Senior Portfolio Advisor manages a select group of fee‑producing investment accounts, typically representing the most complex and high‑value personal trust relationships and individual investors in the Miami market. The role requires deep technical expertise and mastery of Northern Trust’s “Goals Driven Wealth Management” approach. The advisor partners closely with the broader client‑service team to deliver a holistic, high‑touch experience, and plays a key part in growing the business by supporting new client acquisition and expanding relationships with existing clients.
Key Responsibilities
Manages investment activities for high‑net‑worth accounts, targeting 80% capacity.
Drives market growth through individual and team‑based business development, achieving personal sales targets.
Develops, recommends, and oversees execution of tailored investment strategies aligned with client objectives.
Revises investment plans as client goals evolve, coordinating with the broader client‑service team.
Serves as key point of contact for clients, co‑trustees, consultants, legal professionals, and internal stakeholders.
Engages with new investment strategies, tools, and methodologies across national investment and wealth‑management teams.
Participates in thought leadership, internal training, and educational events.
Maintains accountability for performance metrics, including PM Dashboard measures and compliance with national investment guidelines.
Executes new capability rollouts and participates in required training and firm‑wide initiatives.
Provides constructive feedback to leadership on new initiatives.
Participates in investment committees and contributes to strategic firm projects as needed.
Leads others in solving complex investment challenges using advanced analytical thinking and innovative solutions.
Impacts client outcomes and operational objectives through expert judgment and strategic insight.
Adheres to internal policies and risk‑management best practices while championing the firm’s investment philosophy.
Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Deep knowledge of portfolio management theory, accounting principles, financial analysis, and investment strategies across asset classes.
Strong decision‑making, sales, and negotiation skills to guide complex client discussions and drive revenue generation.
Specialized expertise in investment advisory and wealth‑management, developed through education and extensive professional experience.
Ability to interpret business challenges and recommend best‑in‑class solutions to enhance products and services.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, including ability to convey complex concepts and influence stakeholders.
Experience & Education
Minimum of 10–15 years of progressive investment experience, including direct portfolio management or investment research.
Demonstrated track record of consistent long‑term investment performance aligned with client objectives.
Experience leading functional teams or managing projects with moderate complexity, risk, and resource requirements.
Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, or related field required; advanced degrees or certifications (e.g., CFA, CFP) preferred.
