Space, Intelligence and Weapon Systems (SI&WS) Ground and Mission Systems Engineering (GMSE) is looking for an

Experienced or Senior Ground Systems Engineer

(Level 3 or 4) to join our team in

El Segundo, California , to work on the

Evolved Strategic Satellite Communication (ESS) Program .

Boeing has won a $2.8 billion contract from the U.S. Space Force for the Evolved Strategic Satellite Communications (ESS) program, a key component of the nation's nuclear command, control and communications (NC3) architecture. This contract includes the delivery of two satellites, with options for two additional satellites to provide space-based communications for strategic forces worldwide. The ESS program is designed to provide protected connectivity, crucial for maintaining strategic communication capabilities even in the face of adversary attempts to disrupt it.

Position Responsibilities

Develops In Band Command and Control software requirements

Defines and develops test requirements, test plans, procedures, and schedules

Integrates In Band Command and Control software into ESS system

Leads execution, analysis, and preparation of test results to support verification and validation

Evaluates customer/operational needs to define and coordinate system performance requirements, integrate technical parameters and assure compatibility of all physical, functional and program interfaces

Leads analyses to optimize total system of systems and/or system architecture

Leads analyses for affordability, safety, reliability, maintainability, testability, human systems integration, survivability, vulnerability, susceptibility, system security, regulatory, certification, product assurance and other specialties quality factors into a preferred configuration to ensure mission success

Leads, develops, maintains and identifies improvements in the planning, organization, implementation and monitoring of requirements management processes, tools, risk, issues, opportunity management and technology readiness assessment processes

Interface with cross-functional teams, senior leadership, and external customers

This position is expected to be 100% onsite. The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at one of the listed location options.

Basic Qualifications (Required)

Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited course of study in engineering, engineering technology (includes manufacturing engineering technology), chemistry, physics, mathematics, data science, or computer science

3+ years of experience with Systems Engineering processes and principles such as system architecture, interface definition, and requirements definition, decomposition, verification, and validation

Experience with Command and Control (C2) software systems for Ground Systems

Experience developing requirements for satellite operations

Experience performing software and systems integration

Experience performing requirements management using DOORS

Active U.S. Top Secret Security Clearance

Preferred Qualifications (Desired)

7+ years of related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience

5+ years of experience in Ground Systems Engineering

2+ years of experience leading or managing an engineering project or team

Experience working with Government customers

Pay and Benefits Experienced (Level 3) Summary pay range: $114,750 - $155,250 Senior (Level 4) Summary pay range: $138,550 - $187,450
