Senior Financial Analyst (Operations Finance)
Base Salary:
$95,000–$120,000 per year (based on experience)
Location:
Greater Minneapolis Area, hybrid (3 days onsite, remaining remote)
About the Role We’re hiring a Senior Financial Analyst to join the Operations Finance team, partnering closely with Supply Chain, Manufacturing, Engineering, R&D and Procurement to drive cost visibility, efficiency and strategic investment decisions.
This high‑impact FP&A role connects financial insight with operational execution to influence both daily operations and long‑term strategy.
What You’ll Do
Own financial forecasting, budgeting, and variance analysis for manufacturing plants, logistics, procurement, and other operations functions.
Analyze key drivers of cost of goods sold (COGS), including materials, labor, overhead, and freight.
Prepare monthly and quarterly reporting packages with performance commentary and actionable insights.
Drive key elements of the month‑end close process, including accruals, cost allocations, and journal reclassifications.
Partner with plant and supply‑chain leaders to provide financial visibility into KPIs, cost trends, and productivity initiatives.
Support capital expenditure (CapEx) planning, ROI modeling, and tracking of actuals vs. plan.
Track capital expenditures (CapEx) vs. operating expenses (OpEx), including ROI of key investments.
Evaluate inventory levels, working‑capital impacts, and inventory‑related reserves or write‑offs.
Analyze standard cost variances and support updates to cost models.
Assist in development of long‑range operational plans and strategic cost initiatives.
Support scenario modeling, “what‑if” analyses, and cost‑benefit evaluations for key operational decisions.
Own portions of the Annual Operating Plan (AOP), partnering with cross‑functional teams to align assumptions and inputs.
Collaborate cross‑functionally with Accounting, Procurement, Engineering, and FP&A to align financial plans with business goals.
Drive continuous improvement in financial reporting, dashboarding, and operational analytics.
Leverage financial systems (e.g., OneStream, Adaptive Insights, Anaplan, Power BI) to enhance reporting and forecasting accuracy.
Automate manual processes and continuously improve financial models and reporting frameworks.
What We’re Looking For
3–7 years of experience in FP&A, operations finance, supply‑chain finance, or plant‑level financial analysis.
Open to candidates coming out of public accounting or advisory/consulting.
Strong understanding of manufacturing cost structures, cost accounting, and operational KPIs.
Experience partnering with operations leaders and translating financial data into business action.
Advanced Excel modeling skills and familiarity with Power BI, ERP systems, or enterprise planning tools.
Clear, proactive, collaborative communicator with a business‑mindset.
Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or related field (MBA, MAcc, CPA, CFA or CMA a plus).
Experience in manufacturing, CPG, consumer or industrial products highly preferred, but open to other product exposure.
