Director of Business Development
Location: New York, NY
TYG is representing a fast‑growing, award‑winning Architecture & Engineering firm in New York that is continuing to scale due to sustained demand across architectural renovation and large‑scale restoration markets.
This firm has achieved significant national recognition for its growth trajectory and reputation, expanding almost entirely through repeat business and referrals. They are now looking to appoint an experienced Director of Business Development to help formalise and accelerate their next stage of growth.
The Role This position will work closely with senior leadership, playing a key role in driving market strategy, expanding client relationships, and securing new work across targeted sectors. The role combines hands‑on business development with strategic oversight and collaboration across leadership, marketing, and delivery teams.
Key Responsibilities: Business Development & Strategy
Identify and pursue strategic opportunities with large property owners, government bodies, and institutional clients using multiple channels (RFP platforms, LinkedIn, targeted prospecting, and industry sources).
Build, manage, and maintain a strong pipeline of prospects and opportunities in close collaboration with leadership.
Track and report on business development KPIs, sales activity, revenue targets, and lead conversion metrics to support data‑driven decision‑making.
Partner with leadership to refine and execute market‑facing business development strategies aligned with overall firm objectives.
Lead proposal development and presentations, clearly articulating the firm’s value proposition and differentiators.
Represent the firm at industry events, conferences, and networking functions to enhance visibility and relationships across the market.
Client Outreach & Relationship Management
Conduct needs assessments with prospective clients and identify opportunities to expand services within existing accounts.
Collaborate closely with Marketing to develop targeted outreach campaigns across email, social platforms, and content initiatives.
Support the creation of tailored, high‑quality marketing and proposal materials including RFP responses, case studies, and presentations.
Lead market research and competitive analysis to stay informed on industry trends, competitor activity, and evolving client needs.
Contribute to PR, branding, and thought leadership initiatives within the architecture and restoration sectors.
Requirements
20+ years’ experience in Business Development, Sales, or Client Development
Strong understanding of the New York City property management and/or real estate development market
Exceptional communication, presentation, and relationship‑building skills
Proficiency with CRM systems (e.g. Salesforce, Pipedrive) and comfort working with marketing analytics
Entrepreneurial mindset with the ability to operate independently while collaborating across teams
Experience supporting government or large institutional projects is advantageous
