What to Expect (Job Responsibilities):
Lead and develop a team of attorneys and legal professionals within the Product & Regulatory Legal Team
Provide strategic legal counsel on product development and marketing for various loan products
Conduct legal research and analysis on consumer finance laws and develop compliant frameworks
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design customer-friendly financial products
Advise on disputes escalated from the Compliance team, identifying key legal risks
What is Required (Qualifications):
J.D. degree with superior academic credentials and state bar membership
At least 10+ years of experience in a law firm, government, in-house legal department, or fintech/startup, with 5 years focused on marketing and consumer loan origination
In-depth knowledge of federal and state consumer lending and consumer protection laws
Experience with marketing and bank partnership programs, personal loans, and small dollar lending
Strong communication skills with the ability to provide concise legal advice
How to Stand Out (Preferred Qualifications):
Experience using AI in providing legal advice and developing efficiencies
Knowledge of loan servicing, debt collection, and data privacy/security
Vendor management and contract negotiation experience
State licensing and exam experience
