The Gastroenterology Section of the Minneapolis VA Health Care System (MVAHCS) is seeking a dynamic board certified or eligible physician with or without hepatology interest, transplant experience, or certification. The successful candidate will join a superb group of existing physicians and advanced practice providers. Qualifications

United States Citizenship (non‑citizens may only be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with VA Policy) Degree of Doctor of Medicine or an equivalent degree from an approved VA school. Current full and unrestricted license to practice medicine or surgery in a U.S. State, Territory, Commonwealth, or the District of Columbia. Residency training approved by the Secretary of Veterans Affairs in an accredited core specialty program leading to eligibility for board certification. (Approved residencies include: ACGME‑accredited programs, AOA‑accredited programs, or non‑U.S. programs followed by five years of verified U.S. practice as deemed appropriate by the local Medical Staff Executive Committee.) Physicians currently enrolled in an ACGME/AOA accredited residency may be appointed as Physician Resident Providers (PRPs) on an intermittent or fee‑basis, provided they hold a fully licensed degree. Proficiency in spoken and written English. Board certified or board eligible in gastroenterology. Proficient at routine GI procedures such as colonoscopy, EGD, capsule endoscopy, and associated interventions (polypectomy, esophageal dilation, etc.). Hepatology interest or experience with tumor board participation. Preferred: Research and quality improvement experience with outcomes research. Physical requirements: must pass a pre‑employment examination or evaluation as part of the pre‑employment process. Duties

Advocate Whole Health System of care across the VA Midwest Health Care Network. Operate within a model of three core elements: personalized health plans for each veteran, healing relationships and environments, and connection to the veteran’s community. Provide outpatient and inpatient gastrointestinal consultation, procedures, administrative roles, research, and education. Manage patients with a wide range of gastrointestinal diseases using evidence‑based methods and techniques. Coordinate overnight and weekend call, supported by a GI fellow. Eligible for academic appointment at the University of Minnesota; expected to participate in teaching and mentoring of gastroenterology fellows, medical residents, and medical students. Work schedule: Monday – Friday, 8 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. Seniority level
