Base Pay Range
$200,000/yr - $220,000/yr

Overview We are seeking a highly motivated Director of Commercial Insurance Sales & Operations to lead our insurance division. This role is responsible not only for generating new property insurance business but also for managing a team, overseeing daily operations, and building the internal systems and infrastructure that will support long-term growth.
This is a key leadership position for someone who understands commercial property and surplus lines insurance, thrives in a sales-driven environment, and has the operational discipline to build and run a high-performance organization.
Sales & Business Development
Identify and pursue new property insurance prospects through networking, referrals, outbound outreach, and strategic partnerships.
Assess client needs, evaluate property-related risks, and recommend appropriate insurance solutions.
Customize coverage options, limits, deductibles, and endorsements based on client requirements.
Prepare, present, and negotiate insurance proposals; drive the sales cycle to close.
Maintain an active pipeline and achieve monthly and annual production targets.
Lead, train, and develop a team of sales producers and support staff.
Establish daily, weekly, and monthly performance expectations across the department.
Conduct coaching, performance reviews, and sales strategy sessions to elevate team results.
Foster a collaborative, accountable, and client-focused culture.
Operational Oversight
Oversee all day-to-day operations of the insurance division, ensuring smooth, efficient, and compliant processes.
Build and optimize internal systems, workflows, documentation standards, and reporting structures.
Ensure high-quality client service, prompt issue resolution, and consistent communication.
Manage renewals, retention strategies, and cross-selling initiatives across the portfolio.
Market Knowledge & Underwriting Insight
Stay current on industry trends, market conditions, regulatory updates, and carrier guidelines.
Evaluate underwriting criteria and assist in structuring competitive, profitable deals.
Maintain strong understanding of commercial property, general liability, equipment breakdown, and surplus lines policies.
Compliance, Documentation & Reporting
Ensure all activities meet state, federal, and carrier compliance standards.
Maintain accurate records of proposals, renewals, client interactions, and policy transactions.
Produce regular performance, activity, and financial reports for leadership.
Qualifications
Valid insurance broker license; NIPR registration preferred.
3–5 years of Commercial Property & Casualty insurance experience required.
Minimum 5 years of surplus lines experience.
Strong understanding of underwriting principles and commercial building risk.
Prior leadership or management experience is strongly preferred.
Proven track record of sales success, relationship building, and client retention.
Excellent communication, negotiation, and presentation skills.
Strong organizational skills and the ability to build internal processes from the ground up.
High integrity, results-oriented, and capable of thriving in a fast-paced growth environment.
