Associate Scientist I – Cell and Gene Therapy Join Kyowa Kirin, Inc.- U.S. as an Associate Scientist in the Cell and Gene Therapy discovery core function. We work in a fast‑growing, innovative environment to develop next‑generation therapies across multiple disease areas.

Summary The Associate Scientist will support Kyowa Kirin’s cell therapy pipeline programs. With a strong collaborative focus, you will play a key role in developing new technologies, managing projects, and providing science expertise to enhance our cell and gene therapy portfolio.

Essential Functions

Support pipeline projects by enabling gene editing and generating novel molecular workflows.

Serve as a Project Lead for technology‑themed projects when needed.

Identify, evaluate, and implement new gene‑editing technologies.

Contribute scientific and technical knowledge to project and support teams.

Design, initiate, and optimize molecular, cellular, and analytical methods for RTO, In Vivo Phamacology, and Technical Ops teams.

Maintain regulatory compliance, prepare documentation for reviews, patent applications, publications, and biosafety protocols.

Present research findings at project meetings and record experiments in notebooks and databases.

Requirements

BS required; MA/MS preferred in a related discipline.

8+ years of hands‑on experience in cell and gene therapy techniques with deep expertise in gene editing.

Extensive experience with CRISPR, base editing, prime editing, or transposase/recombinase‑based editing.

Strong background in NGS, molecular biology, and cloning.

Cell culture expertise with HSCs, iPSCs, and CAR‑T cells.

Experience in high‑throughput screening, CAR design, and assay development.

Knowledge of antibody/protein engineering, purification, and virus production.

Proficient in MS Office Suite.

Technical Skills

CRISPR and guide RNA design; indel analysis; knock‑in/out assays; NGS; ddPCR.

Cellular, molecular, and immunological techniques: cloning, ELISA, multi‑color flow cytometry, in‑vitro functional assays.

Cell engineering processes including cell line generation and therapeutic cell development.

Cell culture of primary cells, iPSCs, HSCs, and cell lines from multiple species.

Cell characterization techniques: flow cytometry, FACS, MACS, single‑cell isolation.

Antibody/protein production, purification, and analysis.

Compensation The anticipated salary range for this position is $120,000 to $125,000. Final salary will be based on experience, qualifications, and market factors.
