Principal Engineer – MarTech

Role Overview

The Principal Engineer – MarTech owns the technical design and evolution of ALO’s marketing-technology ecosystem. You’ll architect and implement scalable, data-driven systems that enable personalized marketing, real-time activation, and performance measurement across all channels. This role bridges data engineering, marketing operations, and software architecture to build the next-generation growth stack for a global lifestyle brand.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the technical architecture for ALO’s MarTech stack — CRM, marketing automation, personalization, and analytics.
  • Define event streaming, identity resolution, and activation patterns across web, app, and retail.
  • Design data flows between Redshift/Databricks, Braze and Bluecore marketing clouds, and paid media APIs.
  • Establish engineering standards for privacy, metadata, and observability across MarTech pipelines.
  • Build and scale APIs and streaming integrations (Kafka/Kinesis) for customer and campaign data.
  • Automate audience segmentation, journey orchestration, and personalization logic.
  • Drive system performance, reliability, and governance for campaign automation and measurement.
  • Evaluate and integrate new AI-driven tools for attribution, experimentation, and creative optimization.
  • Partner with Growth, Creative, and Data teams to translate marketing strategies into technical execution.
  • Mentor engineers and lead cross-functional solution design reviews.
  • Serve as the principal technical authority for marketing systems and architecture decisions.

Qualifications

  • 12+ years in software or data engineering; 5+ years building or integrating MarTech systems at scale.
  • Expertise in multiple Marketing Cloud, Snowflake/Databricks, AWS, and Python/SQL.
  • Deep understanding of customer identity, tagging, attribution, and experimentation frameworks.
  • Experience building real-time activation and personalization systems across multiple touchpoints.
  • Strong communicator able to align technical and marketing stakeholders on architectural vision.
  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in computer science, Engineering, or related field.

Preferred

  • Experience in retail, fashion, or direct-to-consumer brands.
  • Knowledge of AWS native services (Lambda, Glue, API Gateway, Step Functions).
  • Exposure to ML-based recommendation, LTV modeling, or media-mix optimization.
