Job Summary
The Radiologic Technologist (X-Ray) is responsible for performing diagnostic radiographic imaging procedures to assist physicians in the diagnosis and treatment of patients. This role requires adherence to established safety protocols, quality standards, and Tennessee state regulations while delivering compassionate, patient-centered care in a hospital setting.
Key Responsibilities Perform diagnostic X-ray examinations following physician orders and established protocols Position patients accurately to obtain high-quality diagnostic images Ensure patient safety, comfort, and privacy during all imaging procedures Operate and maintain radiographic equipment in accordance with manufacturer and hospital guidelines Apply radiation protection principles (ALARA) to minimize patient and staff exposure Verify patient identity and clinical history prior to imaging Evaluate images for diagnostic quality and submit studies to PACS/RIS systems Collaborate with radiologists, nurses, and other healthcare professionals Maintain accurate documentation and comply with hospital policies and procedures Follow infection control, safety, and HIPAA regulations Participate in quality improvement initiatives and continuing education
Required Qualifications Graduate of an accredited Radiologic Technology program Registered Radiologic Technologist (ARRT – RT(R)) Licensed by the State of Tennessee (or eligible for licensure) Current BLS/CPR certification (American Heart Association preferred) Strong knowledge of radiographic positioning, anatomy, and radiation safety Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team
Preferred Qualifications Previous hospital-based X-ray experience Experience with trauma and portable imaging Familiarity with PACS and electronic medical records (EMR) Additional modality experience (CT, Fluoro) a plus but not required
