As a Directional Boring Operator, you will be responsible for operating directional drill machines as part of our essential infrastructure projects. This includes, but is not limited to, backhoes, vacuum excavators, front-end loaders, and digger derricks. Examples of Duties Conduct pre-inspection of proposed locations for conduit/pipe installation with the supervisor before and after pre-existing utilities are identified and properly marked.Coordinate utility potholing activities with team members for directional bore activities.Verify the bore path with team members to ensure all utilities are identified and marked, thereby ensuring the correct path for pipe installation without incident.Provide team direction on the job site during job preparation, directional boring installation, and site cleanup.Communicate effectively with team members and the community.Handle stressful situations while working with various utilities.Drill in various work conditions and set up and operate highly specialized directional drills.Review and interpret site plans, instructions, and specifications to determine work activities as provided by the supervisor.Monitor electronic guidance and locate equipment during drilling phases, making adjustments as necessary to avoid interference with utilities.Inspect and maintain equipment, providing minor maintenance and repairs, including lubrication and cleaning.Assist in snow removal and ice control operations as needed.Perform a variety of tasks outside the duties of a Directional Boring Operator, including those of a lower classification, to adequately address work request demands.
