Test Automation Engineer – SME

You will work alongside leaders in aviation, engineering, data science and systems integration to shape the future of air traffic management, defining and supporting mission‑critical FAA programs focused on modernizing and securing the NAS.
Responsibilities
- Synthesize customer requirements, contractual needs and program constraints (technical, cost and schedule) into actionable integration, test and transition strategies.
- Establish and maintain standards, practices and procedures for integrating, testing, evaluating and transitioning FAA systems and enterprise capabilities.
- Evaluate enterprise architectures, system designs and processes for integration, test and evaluation impacts; identify risks and opportunities for improvement.
- Develop and implement comprehensive test and evaluation (T&E) strategies, plans and methods to ensure system reliability and compliance with FAA and industry standards.
- Review and derive requirements for testability; generate verification and validation (V&V) approaches and define customer acceptance criteria.
- Ensure system and enterprise capability compliance through formal verification and validation methods, documenting traceability from requirements to results.
- Plan, prepare for and execute system integration and T&E events, including functional, performance, regression and acceptance testing.
- Compile and analyze test data, define corrective actions or process changes and update configurations and procedures as necessary.
- Prepare and deliver detailed test activity reports, risk assessments and system evaluation summaries to internal leadership and FAA stakeholders.
- Conduct integration regression testing to verify and validate fixes or modifications affecting system performance.
- Coordinate test and transition activities with cross‑functional teams, FAA customers and other contractors to ensure seamless operational deployment.
- Support continuous process improvement and lessons‑learned initiatives to enhance future testing and integration efficiency.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications
- U.S. Citizenship required.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust clearance.
- Minimum of 12 years of experience with a BS/BA; 10 years with an MS/MA; or 7 years with a Ph.D.
- 5–10 years of experience in systems integration, test and evaluation within federal or aviation programs (FAA experience strongly preferred).
- Demonstrated experience developing and executing T&E plans and verification/validation strategies for large‑scale or enterprise systems.
- Solid understanding of systems engineering principles (INCOSE or equivalent), requirements management and configuration control.
- Familiarity with FAA systems engineering, verification and validation processes, including NAS lifecycle documentation standards.
- Experience using industry‑standard tools for test management, requirements traceability and data analysis.
- Excellent analytical, problem‑solving and communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary, customer‑facing environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- INCOSE CSEP or ASEP certification.
- Experience with FAA NextGen, BNATC or TechOps modernization programs.
- Knowledge of FAA acquisition and T&E standards (AMS, NAS‑SE, etc.).
- Experience with automated testing frameworks or simulation environments.
Salary
Target salary range: $104,000–$166,000. Salary is determined by factors including scope and responsibilities, individual experience, education, skills and business conditions. Eligible employees may receive overtime, shift differential and discretionary bonus in addition to base pay.
