Program Description

The Simmons School of Social Work Online DSW program prepares experienced social workers to advance as leaders of social service departments or agencies and as educators. The program combines self‑paced work with synchronous sessions to build knowledge, skill, and community.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Shape the branding and marketing strategy of the program in collaboration with 2U and internal communications.
  • Attend DSW core team meetings and other operations‑related meetings.
  • Assist with admissions process development, including reviewing applications.
  • Participate in course development and build.
  • Conduct faculty searches, interview, hire, and mentor adjunct non‑degree faculty.
  • Teach seven courses per calendar year.
  • Develop and implement innovative culture‑building activities for online doctoral students.
  • Create program assessment tools and support accreditation processes.
  • Serve on internal SSW committees.
  • Engage in community service per faculty policy.
  • Represent the DSW program at professional conferences.
  • Execute other projects and activities as assigned.

Required Education and Clinical Experience

  • CSWE‑accredited MSW or MSSW and either a DSW or Ph.D. in Social Work.
  • Minimum of five post‑MSW years of social work practice experience with diverse, vulnerable, and marginalized populations.
  • Minimum of two post‑DSW or Ph.D. years of practice experience.

Required Administrative Experience

  • Demonstrated leadership and strong organizational skills in a social service agency, professional board, or academic institution.

Required Teaching Experience

  • Minimum of three years of teaching experience in a social work program or related field.
  • Two years of online teaching preferred.

Additional Information for Applicants
