Production Engineer Location: Tustin, CA Compensation: $75,000 - $95,000 About this position The Production Engineer is responsible for providing technical and technological support for both hardware and software systems within defined areas of production. This role plays a key part in the new system assembly, integration, and the successful launch of projects across all computer units. The Production Engineer collaborates closely with cross‑functional teams, including Production Management, Application Engineering, Quality Assurance, and Sales, to ensure that customer requirements, project specifications, and company processes are met effectively. The Production Engineer also drives manufacturing technology development, automation initiatives, and continuous improvement efforts to enhance operational efficiency. This position is reported directly to the Production Manager. Responsibilities Provide technical support for system integration, hardware inspection, OS installation, functional testing, and troubleshooting at the system level. Assist with and coordinate customer project configurations, file reviews, and updates. Provide accurate and timely support to resolve system functionality, sales order, and configuration issues for customers. Support new product introductions (NPI) and project launches for industrial computing, automation, IOT solutions (Advantech System/SBC), and generation of SOP and Work Instruction. Coordinate and support reviews and updates of customer configuration files (CTO/OEM), ensuring accurate documentation in SharePoint and proper linking in the iCTOS system. Set up, operate, and troubleshoot production equipment to ensure efficient, high‑quality output. Coordinate and support hardware and software training in Production, and assist with system rework, upgrade and test training to all production staff. Assist in training and mentoring production staff on lean manufacturing and quality system practices. Provide general technical support for all aspects of operations and manufacturing. Coordinate with cross‑functional teams (Production, QA, Sales, Engineering) and collaborate with OEM/ODM clients as needed to ensure product customization, quality compliance, and customer satisfaction. Assist production management and operations in meeting strategic plans, KPI targets, and workforce effectiveness, while driving continuous improvement initiatives through lean manufacturing and process optimization methodologies. Perform other related duties and support special projects as assigned. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, industrial engineering, automation, computer science, or a related technical field (associate’s degree with equivalent experience in technical and scientific field preferred). At least 3–4 years of experience in computer hardware integration and testing, software installation and configuration, and working in manufacturing environment (preferably in industrial automation or electronics). Strong system integration and technical skills across all computer‑related products. Solid knowledge and understanding of computer hardware and software, including technical skills in various Microsoft/Linux operating systems and network connectivity for computer workstations and server systems. Experience in supporting OEM/ODM projects including the creation of technical documentation such as Customized‑to‑Order (CTO) files, Original Equipment Manufacturing (OEM) files, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), and customer communication. Demonstrated ability to analyze and optimize manufacturing processes for improving efficiency and cost‑effectiveness. Experience in developing and implementing automated testing and manufacturing automation solutions is preferred. Proven analytical, troubleshooting, and problem‑solving abilities, capable of working independently with strong technical skills and attention to detail. Able to effectively manage multiple tasks and projects in a dynamic environment with shifting priorities and deadlines, while also being a collaborative and reliable team player. Strong verbal and written communication skills in English; proficiency in Mandarin is a plus. Capability to work extended hours during workweeks and/or weekends when necessary and/or due to business needs. Previous experience with business travel and offsite support is required. Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook). Good time management, organizational, and interpersonal skills. Physical Requirements Standing, walking, sitting, kneeling, crouching or crawling, reaching with hands and arms to perform job. Lift, carry, push and pull in excess of 25 pounds.
