Our client, one of the largest welded line pipe manufacturers in North America, is looking for an Assistant IT Manager to be part of a dynamic and fast-paced environment, supporting mission-critical systems that enable world-class manufacturin g and operational excellence.

Role Overview

The Assistant IT Manager will support the IT Manager in overseeing the IT infrastructure and services. The role will involve leading a small help desk team, ensuring smooth IT operations, supporting networ king and system administration, managing SAP-related activities, and contributing to IT management. This ition requires strong technical expertise, hands-on leadership, and the ability to collaborate across departments to ensure reliable, secure, and efficient IT services.

Key Responsibilities

IT Operations & Networ king

Manage, monitor, and troubleshoot the companys IT s, servers, and systems to ensure high availability and performance. Maintain LAN/WAN infrastructure, firewalls, VPNs, switches, and routers. Ensure proper data backup, recovery, and cybersecurity measures are in place.

Help Desk & User Support

Supervise and mentor a small help desk team, ensuring timely resolution of user issues and support tickets. Develop standard operating procedures (SOPs) for common IT issues and train the team accordingly. Escalate complex issues and coordinate resolution with vendors or higher-level IT support.

SAP & Business Applications

Provide first-line support for SAP users, coordinating with SAP consultants for issue resolution. Assist in user access management, reporting, and troubleshooting within SAP modules. Support integration of IT systems with SAP for smoother business operations.

Management

Assist in planning and execution of IT s such as system upgrades, enhancements, cybersecurity initiatives, and SAP rollouts. Coordinate cross-functional teams, track milestones, and ensure timely completion. Prepare documentation and provide regular updates to the IT Manager and leadership team.

Compliance & Documentation

Ensure IT policies, data security, and compliance standards are implemented and maintained. Maintain updated documentation of IT assets, processes, and diagrams. Support audits by providing necessary IT-related information and reports.

Qualifications & Experience

Bachelors degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field. 57 years of professional IT experience, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or lead role. Strong knowledge of IT networ king (LAN/WAN, firewalls, VPN, Cisco/HP switches, etc.). Hands-on experience managing IT help desk/support teams. Familiarity with SAP (user support, troubleshooting, and integration). Exure to IT management methodologies (Agile, Waterfall, etc.). Knowledge of IT security standards and compliance practices.
