Position Summary The Seattle Colleges are seeking innovative and dedicated faculty members who are committed to the diverse community college district, serving students from a wide spectrum of socioeconomic and academic backgrounds. Faculty will teach part‑time in a range of Medical Assisting courses. Successful applicants will be able to work effectively with students, colleagues, staff, and others in an urban campus climate that promotes cultural diversity and multicultural understanding.

Applicants may be invited to interview at one of the colleges (North Seattle, Seattle Central, or South Seattle). Specific teaching assignments will depend on the instructor’s background, scheduling, and availability of courses.

Provide high‑quality instruction using effective teaching strategies that support diverse student populations and promote student learning.

Assess student progress and provide constructive, timely feedback to support academic success.

Utilize appropriate educational technologies and communication tools to support teaching, learning, and administrative responsibilities.

Maintain and submit required documentation such as course information, academic credentials, and professional references as part of the application and employment process.

What you bring as a candidate

An understanding of community college goals and role.

Demonstrated ability and commitment to teach multiple levels of the medical assisting curriculum.

Graduate of an accredited Medical Assistant (MDA) program recognized by the U.S. Secretary of Education or the Council for Higher Education Accreditation.

Five (5) years of experience as an MDA or CMA.

Must hold current certifications or designations required by local, state, or federal laws (CMA, RMA, CCMA).

Verbal and written communication skills.

Ability to implement and evaluate daily lesson plans for students, including scheduled activities and materials of modules.

Plan instruction to achieve specific objectives based on student need and the established curriculum.

Maintain student attendance in accordance with established policies.

Prepare final grades at the end of each module to update student records and transcripts.

Arrange and coordinate guest speakers, community service field trips, and visits to clinics and medical offices.

Prepare lectures and practical demonstrations for students in class and individually.

Assist and counsel students with the Medical Assistant program curriculum.

May assist and coordinate externships for Medical Administrative Assistant students.

Monitor students in the classroom and ensure safety precautions are adhered to.

Knowledge of Word, Excel, PowerPoint and other computer skills.

A demonstrated commitment to working within a diverse college community.

Innovative teaching methods including the use of technology and collaborative learning.

The ability to work collaboratively in a professional setting.

Work Setting

Ability to operate office equipment, receive and interpret data, and prepare materials.

Ability to exchange information with supervisor, co‑workers, and students.

Provide 1:1 support, present to small groups, and work at a computer with repetitive hand motion.

Work is performed primarily in office settings with frequent interruptions and typical noise.
