The Physical Datacenter Engineer is responsible for the installation, maintenance, and optimization of physical infrastructure within our datacenters. This role requires a hands-on approach to managing hardware, ensuring system reliability, and supporting the overall efficiency of datacenter operations. Key Responsibilities: Installation and Configuration: Install, configure, and maintain server hardware, network equipment, and other datacenter infrastructure. Perform physical setup and cabling of equipment following standard procedures. Experience installing and maintaining structured cable, including twisted pair, fiber optics, coaxial, trunks, MPO cassettes and breakouts. Maintenance and Troubleshooting: Conduct regular inspections and preventive maintenance of datacenter equipment. Diagnose and resolve hardware issues promptly to minimize downtime. Collaborate with IT teams to troubleshoot network and system problems. Monitoring and Optimization: Monitor datacenter systems to ensure optimal performance and reliability. Implement improvements to enhance efficiency and reduce operational costs. Documentation and Reporting: Maintain accurate records of equipment installations, configurations, and maintenance activities. Prepare reports on datacenter performance and suggest improvements. Compliance and Safety: Ensure compliance with industry standards and company policies regarding datacenter operations. Adhere to safety protocols to maintain a secure working environment. Collaboration and Support: Work closely with cross-functional teams to support IT projects and initiatives. Provide technical support and guidance to team members and stakeholders. Participate in the Data Center Operations on call rotation. Includes afterhours support 24x7 during rotation. Participate in the Data Center Operations change management process. Includes afterhours support 24x7 for emergency and scheduled changes.

Qualifications: Proven experience in datacenter operations, with a focus on physical infrastructure. Strong understanding of server hardware, networking equipment, and cabling systems. Proficiency in troubleshooting hardware and network issues. Familiarity with datacenter management tools and software. Excellent organizational and documentation skills. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Physical Requirements: Ability to lift and move heavy equipment (up to 50lbs). Comfortable working in a datacenter environment with varying temperatures. Perform on-call and support changes or issue resolution at all hours, as needed.
