Principal Power Uprate Analysis Engineer
Join Enercon Services, Inc. and help advance nuclear energy solutions across the country. In this leadership-level position, you’ll guide complex engineering projects, mentor junior staff, and contribute to the safe and efficient implementation of power uprates at nuclear facilities.
Overview Enercon is looking for engineers with technical depth, leadership capability, and a passion for nuclear innovation. Ideal candidates have prior experience supporting power uprate projects and a strong foundation in nuclear systems and plant operations. This role can be based at any Enercon nuclear office location, and remote work will be considered for strong candidates not located near an office.
Responsibilities
Lead power uprate evaluations and implementations as a subject matter expert, ensuring reactor output increases comply with safety and regulatory standards.
Pass on expertise and shape the next generation of nuclear professionals through mentoring and leadership.
Contribute to the U.S. clean energy strategy by advancing foundational uprate projects that extend plant lifespans.
Collaborate with senior stakeholders, regulatory bodies, and multidisciplinary teams to guide high‑impact projects and shape technical direction.
Foster a culture of excellence, innovation, and continuous learning across the organization.
Conduct detailed engineering studies to assess design margins across plant systems, evaluating impacts of increased power levels on components and structures.
Identify and scope necessary plant modifications, including mechanical, electrical, and I&C changes, and support cost‑benefit analyses.
Coordinate with design engineering, licensing, operations, and maintenance teams to ensure alignment on uprate strategy.
Prepare technical reports, change packages, and presentations for stakeholders and regulators, maintaining accurate records.
Engage external vendors and contractors for specialized studies and equipment upgrades.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree in Nuclear, Mechanical, Civil, Electrical, or related engineering from an ABET‑accredited university.
10+ years of nuclear engineering experience focused on power uprates.
PE license or progress toward licensure is a plus.
Experience evaluating large‑scale power systems using industry‑accepted codes such as IEEE, IEC, NEC, and NERC; preferably in a nuclear context.
Proficiency in applying technical literature and industry studies to complex engineering problems.
Experience in one or more of the following disciplines:
Electrical: load flow, short circuit, arc flash, equipment protection, sequence of operation, and transient stability.
Mechanical: thermal‑hydraulic evaluations, system flow modeling, pump and valve sizing, and stress analysis.
Civil/Structural: structural load assessments, seismic and wind evaluations, foundation design reviews, and support modifications for uprate equipment.
Pay Range USD $130,000.00 – USD $180,000.00 per year.
