What You Will Do

Responsible for the design, development, and oversight of the Electrical Technician training path, including the Apprenticeship Program. This role will create and maintain structured learning plans, develop and update technical training materials, manage on-the-job and classroom-based instruction, and ensure alignment with business and safety standards.

Manage testing and evaluation systems to monitor trainee progress, competency, and certification.

Collaborate closely with Maintenance, Engineering, HR, and external partners to deliver specialized training and to maintain compliance with industry standards and apprenticeship requirements.

Oversee all Electrical Technician training programs within the factory, including the design, implementation, and continuous improvement of both technical and apprenticeship-related training activities.

Ensure that all training programs are closely aligned with operational needs, safety requirements, and industry standards.

Review, update, and maintain all electrical training documentation to ensure accuracy, relevance, and effectiveness.

Develop new training materials—including Step-up Cards (SUCs), Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), One Point Lessons (OPLs), and Work Instructions (WIs)—to support the introduction of new electrical equipment and systems.

Conduct all testing activities related to the Electrical Technician training and Apprenticeship programs. Design and administer assessments to evaluate trainee knowledge, practical skills, and overall program effectiveness.

Maintain accurate and up-to-date training records within the Skill Matrix, ensuring all entries reflect the current status and progress of Electrical Technicians and apprentices.

Identify and develop new trainers within the Electrical Technician job classification. Assess current training needs, evaluate the skills and qualifications of potential trainers, and select individuals who demonstrate strong technical knowledge and the ability to effectively communicate and coach others.

Conduct comprehensive skill-gap analyses for Electrical Technicians and apprentices to identify areas where employees may lack the necessary technical skills or knowledge.

Partner with various Department MBU Teams to conduct loss analysis and support the development and execution of the master training plan.

Perform other job-related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Education: Associate’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Industrial Technology, or related discipline.

Experience: 5+ years Manufacturing or Technical Training experience; 3+ years supervisory experience.

Must be 21 years of age or older.

Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, & PowerPoint) and Microsoft Teams.

Excellent verbal and written communication, presentation skills, attention to detail, problem/situation analysis.

Effective time and task management, multitasking capabilities, flexibility and adaptability.

Ability to communicate to a broad and diverse audience, plan, organize, prioritize, and manage projects or programs.

Maintain effective working relationships, demonstrate critical thinking, work with diverse populations and varying education levels.

Work a fluctuating work schedule; travel domestically and internationally as needed.

Preferred: Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Industrial Technology, or related discipline; 3+ years related work experience; 3+ years of supervisory experience; Electrical Certification; Certified Professional in Training Management; Lean/Six Sigma Green Belt or equivalent.

Work Environment and Physical Demand

Occasionally lifts or moves moderate to heavy weight objects (10-50 lbs.).

Reach and grasp objects / hand eye coordination.

Stoop, bend, kneel, crouch, or crawl.

Walks, sits, or stand for extended periods of time.

Prolonged machine operation including computer and keyboard equipment.

Use of manual dexterity and fine motor skills.

Identify and distinguish color and shades of color.

Work with equipment or perform procedures where carelessness may result in injury.

Risk for occupational exposure to bloodborne pathogens.
