Overview The Student Accounts Representative manages student financial accounts, serving as a key contact for billing, payments, and financial aid questions. Responsibilities include posting payments, issuing refunds, managing holds, reconciling daily cash, and resolving issues with empathy. The role demands strong customer service, attention to detail, and proficiency with financial software.
Responsibilities
Answer phone calls and greet customers.
Process payments received via cash, check, credit card, or electronic funds transfer.
Issue receipts, refunds, and change to customers.
Manage cash flow from dining, including cash drawer management and daily reconciliation.
Coordinate and manage semester payment plans through Nelnet Campus Commerce.
Verify cash drawer nightly and prepare bank deposits or replenishments.
Assist students using financial aid and follow up with the Financial Aid office to resolve disbursement delays.
Facilitate financial clearance for residents and commuters.
Prepare financial worksheets for students and families.
Monitor student accounts and communicate with students to resolve outstanding balances.
Maintain a clean and orderly front‑desk area.
Qualifications Education
Associate degree in Business, Accounting, or related field required.
Experience
3–5 years of related business experience; higher‑education experience preferred (cashiering, accounting, collections, or financial aid processes).
Ability to manage and prioritize tasks, meet deadlines, and oversee projects independently or as part of a team.
Excellent written and oral communication, organization, and attention to detail.
Ability to act with discretion and maintain confidentiality regarding student accounts.
Student‑oriented, customer‑service focused with demonstrated commitment to quality service and diversity.
