Position Summary
The Director of Accounting will provide leadership and daily management of the Accounting team. Specifically, the Director will oversee all property accounting functions for investing partners and clients, including but not limited to financial statement preparation & analysis, adherence to GAAP, managing audits, implementing industry best practices, ensuring proper controls and optimizing technology and procedures. This role will also oversee the outsourced property management accounting teams and provide directives on proper real estate accounting under Wrightwell’s accounting policies as well as regular meetings to ensure timely & accurate financials are produced and alignment with all parties (property managers, asset managers, investors, lenders, etc.)
As needed, this position may assist Corporate Accounting - budgeting, cashflow analysis, treasury management, shared services, etc. The Director may also take part in regular meetings with senior leadership within Wrightwell. This position is an integral, early-stage opportunity to shape the Accounting Department as we continue to grow the platform.
The ideal candidate will be a strategic, industry-experienced self-starter with excellent written and verbal communication, proven leadership capabilities in a scaling company, adaptive and innovative problem-solving skills, and a strong understanding of finance & accounting within the single-family and multifamily investment industries. This position will report directly to the EVP, Accounting & Finance.
Key Responsibilities
Oversee month-end close and financial reporting for all clients and partners while adhering to deadlines.
Facilitate the hiring, onboarding, and ongoing development of additional team members and outsourced property management accounting staff.
Implement industry best practices; analyze & improve processes and operational procedures to ensure accurate and timely financial reporting.
Manage audits for captive assets and serve as primary POC for client audits.
Assist with budget preparation and review as needed.
Prepare and/or review journal entries such as prepaid insurance amortizations, tax accruals, fixed asset classification and depreciation, etc.
Review and sign off on reporting packages, supporting workpapers, recons, etc.
Assist management team in the preparation of investor or lender financial reporting by providing variance analysis and support to drive strategic decision making.
Work cross-functionally with other business units within Wrightwell.
Corporate Responsibilities
Treasury and cash management – maintain compliance with regulated flow of funds (i.e.property tax payments), recommend transfers and/or distributions, review bank recons & aging schedules, process timely payments, oversee receivables
Corporate budgeting for general, administrative and selling expenses, including payroll.
Assist with corporate audits and provide financial data to external tax consultants.

Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in finance or accounting or another applicable field.
Industry experience of (8-10 years) in Single-Family and/or Multifamily accounting, including 3 rd party property management accounting oversight.
Personnel management required (3-5 years) with high emotional intelligence.
Demonstrate the highest level of ethics in interpersonal relations and work as an effective, collaborative team member.
Must be motivated, resourceful, and comfortable working on a highly capable, small and dynamic team.
Willing and able to work under pressure and manage time while prioritizing multiple projects/tasks
Strong financial acumen and ability to clearly communicate.
Ability to work independently with minimum supervision while providing transparency
Must demonstrate strong interpersonal skills working with internal and external stakeholders
Strong office and real estate software skills including Microsoft Office, Yardi, MRI, Google, etc.
