Senior Manager of Engineering – Commerce Payments A leader who can define and drive the next generation of our payments platform for Commerce. The role shapes product and technical strategy, builds and grows a high‑performing team, and partners closely with cross‑functional stakeholders to deliver at scale. You’ll directly impact billions of dollars in transaction volume, enable frictionless experiences for millions of shoppers, and help position the team as a core driver of innovation across the company.

Team Description The Commerce Payments team powers seamless payment and checkout experiences for some of the largest ecommerce retailers in the world. We operate in a fast‑moving, dynamic environment where the opportunity to make an impact is massive. Our roadmap for the coming year includes several 0→1 initiatives that will shape how customers experience checkout at scale.

Roles and Responsibilities • Define, design, and ship next‑generation payments and checkout capabilities.

• Build and grow a high‑performing team from ground up.

• Partner closely with product, engineering, and business stakeholders to deliver at scale.

• Champion technical excellence, quality, security, and reliability across the platform.

Desired Skills and Experience

10+ years of experience leading software development projects.

3‑5 years of people‑management, leading sizeable teams and technically fast‑paced projects.

Experience leading large‑scale enterprise applications, distributed systems, microservices or distributed architecture.

Strong verbal and written communication skills, organizational and time‑management skills.

Ability to be flexible, proactive, and comfortable working with minimal specifications.

Experience with short release cycles, the full software lifecycle, and public‑facing product releases.

Experience in hiring, mentoring, and leading engineers.

Deep understanding of software engineering best practices (coding standards, code reviews, SCM, CI, build, testing, ops).

Experienced with Agile development, Scrum Master experience required.

Experience communicating with users, other technical teams, and product management to understand requirements, describe features, and technical design.

Technical degree in a related area is required.
