Director, Cash Center of Excellence (CoE)

Job Overview We have an exciting transformational opportunity for a Director, Cash Clearing Center of Excellence (CoE), managing the end‑to‑end cash processing within the Insurance General Account Portfolios. The position reports to Investment Management Operations within Investment Services and works with key stakeholders—including affiliated and third‑party asset managers, administrative service providers, the controllership organization, and the investment management leadership team—to provide subject‑matter expertise in cash services. The role requires a deep understanding of accounting requirements, trade classifications, and downstream reporting, as well as the ability to analyze and present cash clearing account reconciliation metrics.
The team functions alongside other Centers of Excellence in Public, Private, Mortgage Loans, and Bank Loan Securities, providing opportunities to contribute to the development of the Operations organization. This leadership role manages a team of specialists, sets direction for the team, and influences the refinement of operating models and processes.
Key responsibilities also include executing projects to scale, automate, and streamline processes within the CoE, managing resource planning and capacity analysis, and leveraging onshore and offshore teams to deliver objectives effectively.
Impact
Lead direct teams to monitor cash positions within MassMutual’s investment and accounting book of record.
Enable teams to provide seamless operational execution on third‑party and affiliated manager transactions, including cash reconciliations.
Participate in discussions with critical stakeholders and enablers, including Technology (ETX), to define operating models and digitization efforts.
Establish and manage the CoE with key operating metrics and outcome‑based performance improvement.
Monitor work queues and ensure critical deliverables are met on time and with quality.
Lead and manage multiple business teams across multiple locations.
Act as the escalation point of contact for the team and broader investment management and operations teams.
Manage external investment managers and related servicers and measure performance using service level agreements.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree.
8+ years of experience in investment operations, finance, or accounting.
Ideal Qualifications
Proven ability to lead and manage projects from initiation to completion.
Experience developing, leading, and managing a diverse team and fostering a collaborative environment.
Proficiency in financial software and project management tools.
Excellent problem‑solving skills, keen attention to detail, and a numerate, analytical mindset.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Effective collaboration within small dedicated teams and across large local platforms.
Ability to meet multiple deadlines leveraging cross‑functional teams with minimal supervision.

Experience with cash clearing account reconciliation.
