Job Description The Senior EHS Manager coordinates implementation of the site EHS plan in accordance with company policies and procedures; provides information to the Project Director/Manager, Construction Manager and Superintendents regarding best safety practices and company health and safety plan. This is an on‑site traveling position where you will primarily be assigned to various projects across the United States. The ideal candidate must be willing to travel and be flexible about spending extended periods at project sites.
Responsibilities
Work with senior management to ensure organization’s EHS compliance.
When on project site(s) work with project management, client management, and subcontractors to ensure proactive planning and execution of organization’s EHS compliance, programs and policies.
Manage emergency response incidents.
Conduct, lead, and support RCA(s) and ensure the implementation of corrective actions.
Keep up‑to‑date with local, state, and federal regulatory compliance, such as OSHA, EPA, Cal/OSHA, and other relevant regulations.
Conduct or lead training in applicable EHS areas.
Conduct a comprehensive and effective EHS audits/assessments at construction project(s).
Mentor junior EHS staff and coordinate with regional/corporate EHS leaders.
Participate in current and upcoming project planning meetings to embed EHS considerations.
Drive continuous improvement initiatives and safety culture development.
Lead EHS meetings or EHS portions in meetings.
Evaluate programs and issue recommendations and implement change.
Capable of completing work assignments with little supervision.
Minimum Qualifications
Associates degree in Occupational Safety, Health, and/or Environmental from an accredited college or university required; bachelor’s degree preferred.
Minimum of ten years of relevant work experience in technical and clean‑space construction industry preferred.
OSHA 500 equivalent or higher.
CHST equivalent or higher.
Additional Qualifications
ASP, CSP, CIH, CFPS, CHMM, and/or SMP certification preferred.
Exceptional communication skills.
Excellent tact and diplomacy in dealing with others and the ability to deal with all levels of management, from field to corporate levels.
Team player and self‑starter.
Strong analytical and strategic thinking abilities.
Proficiency with mobile devices and mobile forms.
Proficiency with HammerTech and/or other safety management systems.
Capable of managing, mentoring, and coaching junior EHS staff.
Case management/worker’s comp knowledge.
