Sr Software Verification Engineer - Surgical Robotic Innovations
Join Medtronic as a Senior Software Verification Engineer in our Surgical Robotics & Innovations operating unit. In this role you will help ensure safety, reliability and performance of our globally launched Robotic Assisted Surgery platform.
Responsibilities
Design and execute test strategies, develop automated C++ test suites for embedded real‑time platforms, and verify the readiness of embedded software for milestone releases.
Detect defect interactions across multi‑processes, control algorithms, safety systems and sensors; safeguard robot operations and patient outcomes.
Collaborate with developers in an Agile scrum team to troubleshoot defects, enhance testability, and increase test coverage.
Develop and maintain a VnV framework that promotes consistency, modularity, maintainability, and scalability.
Mentor junior engineers and promote a culture of continuous learning and technical excellence.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in engineering or related field with a minimum of 4 years of relevant experience (or equivalent graduate experience).
Proficiency in C++ (medium to advanced) and Python (medium to advanced).
Experience with ARM Cortex‑M, AVR, or similar microcontroller platforms.
Experience with QNX or Linux operating systems, version control (Git), and CI/CD pipelines.
Strong communication, collaboration and problem‑solving skills.
Passion for teamwork and successful collaboration.
Nice to Haves
Knowledge of hardware design, software‑hardware interfaces and safety‑critical product development.
Experience verifying medical devices controlled by software and familiarity with FDA guidance (IEC 62304, ISO 26262, ISO 21434).
Experience with manual and automated test script development and execution.
Ability to manage multiple hardware and software configurations.
