Collins Aerospace is seeking a Senior Principal Systems Test Architect to work within the Systems Department with the Advanced Networks Solutions (ANS) group. This individual contributes to all phases of the product development lifecycle (i.e. systems and software requirements, system architecture and design, software integration and test, simulation and test, integration and test, verification and sell‑off), within an interdisciplinary process that ensures the customer and warfighters needs are satisfied through every stage. This commitment to excellence can sometimes include opportunities for travel, and flexible hours/shifts to ensure programmatic milestones are met. This position is located in St. Petersburg, FL and is eligible for relocation. A current US Secret clearance is required.

The Senior Principal Systems Test Architect is the Voice of Test for the program and is accountable for developing, implementing, and executing a Living Test Strategy for the Program. The Systems Test Architect is the Source of Truth for user operations, engineering development, and production test while ensuring all test related activities are properly coordinated across the program. The Systems Test Architect serves as the Key Interface with the customer and Collins Aerospace Engineering for the Program Test Strategy and Architecture.

The selected applicant will join a team of talented engineers with integration and testing of sophisticated naval and maritime systems in support of the Cooperative Engagement Capability (CEC) program, located in St. Petersburg, Florida, as part of Advanced Networking Solutions (ANS). The U.S. Navy’s CEC, a real‑time ‘sensor‑netting’ system that brings together radar data into a single integrated air picture from geographically dispersed ships, aircraft, and ground‑based units. Today’s CEC benefits from advancements in commercial and specialized technologies, as well as from the experience and expertise of the Collins Aerospace team, continually innovating to advance capability and performance.

Primary Responsibilities

Applies architecting methodologies to develop Program I&T Strategy and Architecture.

Drives the integration of all I&T activities across the entire program life cycle.

Works with Chief Engineers (CE), System Architects, System Engineers and Designers.

Ensures Testability is being driven into system/software designs.

Establishes requirements‑driven system test program for large systems or systems of systems.

Architects overall verification strategy and approach across the entire program life cycle.

Influence the system and lower level designs for improved test optimization, testability, and requirements coverage.

Owns test strategy implementation (Test Plan).

Works directly with Systems Architects and Test Leads to ensure test. requirements & verification approaches are optimized, with balanced risk, across subsystem & system level tests.

Directly responsible for IMS development for all system level integration and test activities.

Works with execution teams to identify risks & opportunities and resources for I&T.

Manages the development of test requirements documents as well as requirements definition for test support equipment hardware & software, as part of standard program reviews.

Determines internal verification requirements for configured items entering the next level of Integration and Test activities.

Ensures software and firmware teams have adequately defined simulation environments to test & verify products prior to system level test.

Lead and support test strategy development, system level integration and test planning, design, and execution.

Develop test plans, test procedures, and test cases, incorporating automation where possible.

Perform integration and test activities in‑house or at site locations.

Utilize DOORS and other systems tools to capture verification artifacts and maintain traceability to requirements.

Collaborate with Program and Customer Leadership.

Earned Value Management efforts such as Basis of Estimate (BoE) Author/Reviewer, Proposal support and formal cost and schedule estimating.

Troubleshooting and failure analysis, including the use of lab or field test equipment.

Innovative thought and implementation of automated test execution and data analysis using any combination of scripting tools, Python, Matlab, and COTS products.

Qualifications You Must Have

Experience in the operation, test, and troubleshooting of complex military systems.

Experience leading and executing the integration, test and verification of software and software requirements.

Experience with software/systems integration planning and execution.

Development of integration, verification, and validation planning documentation of integration and test plans, procedures, reports, status reports, and other related documentation.

Experience in scripting and automation techniques or methodologies.

Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) unless prohibited by local laws/regulations and minimum 10 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 7 years of experience.

Active and transferable U.S. government issued Secret (or higher) Security clearance is required prior to start date.

Qualifications We Prefer

Current Top Secret clearance is preferred.

Experience in the operation, test, and troubleshooting of Naval systems.

Experience with automated test scripting and automated data analysis.

Experience in programming C/C++, Python, or other programming languages. Knowledgeable in Linux.

Experience using DOORS for requirements management and requirements allocation (linking) to test procedures.

Experience with Agile project management, including project estimating, reporting, and backlog management.

Experience with DevSecOps/TDD/BDD; Security+.

Experience with MATLAB.

Demonstrated ability to work effectively with coworkers from different communities and cultures.
