Job Summary
Incumbent decontaminates, operationally checks, assembles, and distributes surgical instrumentation, implants, supplies, and equipment for the OR, Nursing Units, and Ancillary Departments. Incumbent maintains documentation related to these duties. Incumbent operates and maintains sterilization equipment, decontamination equipment, and computer systems related to these duties. This position requires the flexibility to orient and work at all UCSF Medical Center locations.

Completion of an SPD certification training program from a recognized institution
General ability to operate machinery including sterilizers, washers and ultrasonic cleaners
The flexibility to orient and work at all UCSF Medical Center locations
Good communication and customer service skills
Basic knowledge of computer systems including Windows OS, keyboard and mouse operation
Basic knowledge of medical terminology
Knowledge of standard precautions for safety and prevention of cross-contamination
Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing
Ability to understand, speak, and write English in order to communicate with nursing, technical, and medical staff
Ability to safely move heavy trays and equipment, lifting up to 50 pounds, and stand for prolonged periods of time
