Job Description Location: Chicago, Illinois (Hybrid: office and remote). The ideal candidate will have experience managing diverse teams, regulatory and client engagement on complex sites, investigation/remediation project experience, strong focus on health and safety, detail orientation, excellent written and verbal communication, ability to work independently, and be collaborative in a high‑performance team.

In this role, you will support business development for the Chicago office and manage AECOM staff and subcontractors, technical delivery, stakeholder engagement and communication, and financial management.

Responsibilities

Overall management of projects, establishing objectives, policies, and ensuring design, budget, and schedule alignment.

Drive solutions based on site investigation and remediation techniques.

Interact with clients to discuss AECOM service capabilities and expand services.

Oversee project portfolio, ensuring all facets align with standards through subordinate managers.

Provide technical oversight and quality control.

Define scope and objectives; supervise project phases from initiation to close‑out.

Predict resource needs and manage resources effectively.

Make decisions, identify & mitigate risks, and maintain profit margins as planned.

Deliver consistent project updates to stakeholders.

Lead teams in site investigations, remediation, feasibility studies, risk assessment, and treatability studies.

Supervise senior engineers, geologists, scientists, and project managers.

Collaborate with administration, controls, scheduling, cost control, billing, accounting, finance, and procurement.

Mentor staff on expanding service opportunities.

Provide management and guidance to local environmental staff; liaise between AECOM and client.

Minimum Requirements

BS in engineering, geology, environmental science or related field and 6+ years of experience (or equivalent).

US Citizen or US Permanent Resident.

Subject to background check and MVR check.

Preferred Qualifications

10+ years of experience in site investigation, remediation, project management, and business development.

Licensed in Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Kansas, Missouri, or Ohio (Professional Engineer or Geologist).

Experience working with state regulatory agencies in the licensed states.

Experience managing teams and scheduling staff and resources.

Experience in business development.

40‑hour HAZWOPER certified (current) including 8‑hr Supervisor training.

PMP certification.

Experience with regulator and stakeholder negotiations.

Experience successfully managing environmental projects for various clients.

Detail oriented with strong organizational and communication skills.

Superior writing, editing, and reporting skills for diverse audiences.

Experience preparing proposals, cost estimates, schedules, and change orders.

Additional Information Offered compensation: $114,000 to $124,000 per year.
