Senior Computer Network Architect (Job ID: 3672)
Pay Range: $47.00/hr - $57.00/hr
Purpose Valkyrie Enterprises has a need for a Senior Computer Network Architect who will provide network and IT design support at San Antonio-Lackland Airforce Base, TX, 78236. This position is contingent upon contract funding.
Job Description
Planning and designing data communication networks.
Presenting network plans to management staff.
Providing design of network and prompt IT design, support, and assistance with a variety of day‑to‑day tasks to support the IT team and staff with security, design and documentation of the network.
Collaborating with management staff to determine networking needs.
Overseeing the network implementation process, including setting schedules and budgets.
Managing information and network security.
Implementing upgrades to hardware and software as needed.
Performing maintenance and repairs to network equipment.
Keeping documentation of networks, including drawings, descriptions and configurations.
Researching network technologies and staying up to date on advancements in the field.
Implementing new server and network hardware and corresponding software solutions.
Ensuring that all network systems are functioning and communicating properly (servers, firewalls, routers, switches, VPN devices, cabling, wireless routers, etc.).
Tracking system end of life and specifying replacements when needed.
Documenting existing systems and formulating comprehensive plans for the implementation of new systems.
Performing regular inventories of existing IT equipment and reporting any discrepancy to the Program Manager.
Providing assistance and guidance to IT technicians as needed.
Qualifications
Minimum of 8 years’ experience in network architecture and design.
Advanced understanding of networking protocols and procedures.
Experience with tier 1 network hardware in a production environment.
Advanced understanding of Microsoft OS and applications, including Exchange, in a production environment.
Extensive experience with hardware/software troubleshooting and analysis.
Demonstrated initiative, ability to manage multiple projects, meet deadlines and determine priorities in a fast‑paced environment.
Excellent people skills; communication and familiarity with a customer support environment.
Desired Qualifications
IAT Level III Networking certification is preferred.
Security Requirements
Must have TS/SCI security clearance.
Travel Requirements
Occasional travel – less than 10%.
If the position requires travel by domestic flight or access to secure federal facilities/military bases, the candidate must be able to obtain (by start of position) and maintain appropriate identification credentials, such as REAL ID.
