Job Description The Cloud Architect will be responsible for designing, implementing, and managing cloud‑based solutions to meet the organization's needs. This role involves strategic planning, architectural design, and leading the migration of services to the cloud. The candidate will collaborate with cross‑functional teams to ensure the cloud infrastructure is scalable, secure, and optimized for performance.
Requirements
U.S. Citizenship required.
Must be able to obtain and maintain a Public Trust clearance.
This position is remote but may require occasional on‑site meetings in McLean, VA.
You can be based out of the following states: AZ, DC, FL, GA, OH, ME, MD, SC, TX, UT, VA, NC, OK, WV.
Qualifications and Experience
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
At least 10 years of relevant experience in cloud architecture and infrastructure.
Proficiency in cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform.
Strong understanding of cloud security, compliance, and best practices.
Experience with infrastructure‑as‑code tools such as Terraform, CloudFormation, or similar.
Knowledge of networking, backup and recovery, and disaster recovery concepts in the cloud.
Exceptional communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
Strong analytical and problem‑solving abilities.
Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.
Preferred Qualifications
Certifications such as AWS Certified Solutions Architect, Microsoft Certified: Azure Solutions Architect, or Google Professional Cloud Architect.
Experience in a government contracting environment.
Knowledge of DevOps practices and CI/CD pipelines.
Responsibilities Cloud Strategy and Design
Develop and implement a comprehensive cloud strategy that aligns with organizational goals.
Design scalable, secure, and resilient cloud architectures using cloud service platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform.
Ensure cloud solutions meet security and compliance requirements, including FedRAMP, FISMA, and HIPAA.
Implementation and Migration
Lead the migration of on‑premises systems and applications to cloud environments.
Develop detailed project plans, including timelines, milestones, and resource requirements for cloud migrations and new cloud initiatives.
Architecture and Infrastructure Management
Design and implement cloud infrastructure that supports high availability, failover, and disaster recovery.
Optimize cloud resources for performance and cost‑efficiency.
Security and Compliance
Implement security controls and best practices to safeguard data and maintain compliance with regulatory requirements.
Conduct regular security assessments and audits to identify and mitigate vulnerabilities.
Continuous Improvement
Stay updated with the latest cloud technologies, trends, and best practices.
Evaluate and implement new cloud services and tools to improve infrastructure and meet evolving needs.
Collaboration and Coordination
Collaborate with software developers, system administrators, and other stakeholders to ensure seamless integration and deployment of cloud solutions.
Provide technical guidance and mentorship to team members and stakeholders.
Monitoring and Optimization
Implement monitoring tools to track cloud infrastructure performance and health.
Continuously monitor and optimize cloud infrastructure to ensure it meets performance and cost objectives.
Documentation and Best Practices
Create and maintain comprehensive documentation for cloud architectures, configurations, and operational procedures.
Promote adherence to best practices in cloud architecture and operations.
