Senior Mac Administrator – On‑Site, Washington, DC

Salary: $118,000 – $130,000
Summary The Senior Mac Administrator provides Tier 3 macOS support and serves as the organizational subject matter expert for Apple systems. This on‑site role in Washington, DC ensures the reliability, security, and scalability of the Mac enterprise environment through advanced troubleshooting, automation, and strategic system design. The ideal candidate demonstrates technical leadership, deep expertise in macOS administration, and the ability to drive continuous improvements in enterprise Mac operations while maintaining compliance with federal security standards.
Functional Responsibilities Provide advanced Tier 3 technical support for macOS workstations and peripherals. Serve as an SME for macOS integration, security, and enterprise management. Lead complex troubleshooting efforts, automation initiatives, and system optimization. Work closely with engineering and security teams to design, enhance, and support scalable Mac infrastructure solutions.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
Diagnose and resolve complex macOS hardware, software, and network issues
Develop and maintain secure, enterprise‑level macOS configurations and policies
Design and implement automation for deployment, patching, and compliance
Manage and optimize MDM platforms such as Jamf and Intune
Integrate macOS systems with enterprise services including AD, SSO, VPN, and email
Oversee Apple Business Manager (ABM) and provisioning workflows
Create and maintain SOPs, documentation, and knowledge base content
Mentor Tier 1 and Tier 2 support teams and provide advanced escalation assistance
Collaborate with InfoSec to maintain macOS compliance with security frameworks
Support strategic planning and enhancements for Mac infrastructure
Minimum Education
Associate’s Degree in IT or related field required
Bachelor’s Degree preferred
Minimum Experience
4–6 years of IT support experience, including 3+ years in enterprise macOS environments
Experience managing MDM platforms and large‑scale Mac deployments
Strong scripting background (Bash, Python) for automation
Required Skills
Expert proficiency in macOS administration, Terminal, and diagnostic tools
Strong networking knowledge (TCP/IP, VPN, Wi‑Fi) and security best practices
Experience using enterprise ticketing systems such as ServiceNow
Ability to lead projects and mentor technical staff
Excellent written and verbal communication and documentation abilities
Preferred Skills
Deep experience with Jamf Pro, Intune, and Apple Business Manager
Knowledge of Active Directory, LDAP, and SSO integration
Familiarity with CIS benchmarks, NIST, and compliance frameworks
Experience supporting VIP or executive users
Certifications
ACSP or ACITP preferred
Jamf 300/400‑level certifications preferred
CompTIA Network+ or Security+ preferred
Work Environment
100% on‑site position in Washington, DC
Hours: 7:00 AM – 6:00 PM EST, Monday–Friday
May require after‑hours support for critical issues or deployments
