About The Role MWH is currently seeking a
Senior Proposal Manager
to lead the development and production of compelling, winning proposals that demonstrate our firm’s expertise and capabilities while crafting a winning message. The Senior Proposal Manager reports to the SVP of Strategy and Business Development and is responsible for the coordination, development, and execution of MWH Constructors’ marketing and pursuit‑specific submittal efforts. Primary responsibilities include proposal and presentation preparation, writing, editing, and proofreading of proposals, forms, and qualification packages. The position requires diligence to manage all marketing and proposal staff to ensure that all pursuit needs are assigned and completed in a timely manner with a high degree of attention to detail and accuracy. This position is responsible for training, development, and mentorship of other proposal and marketing staff. The successful candidate will thrive in a fast‑paced, deadline‑driven environment and enjoy managing multiple tasks and leading a team of creative professionals to develop engaging and winning submittals and marketing content.
Essential Functions
Lead, manage, and mentor the proposal and marketing teams in the development of engaging content and materials for pursuits and company communications both internally and externally via print and digital methods.
Review RFQ/RFP documents, outline requirements, develop pursuit production plans, create deliverables calendars, and coordinate the development of response materials with the campaign manager, operational leads, and other marketing and proposal professionals.
Develop and produce compelling written content and creative graphical elements to meet submittal requirements and be easily reviewed by selection panels.
Lead and manage individual project pursuits, including development of SOQs, proposals, interview presentations, brochures, and other content and deliverables.
Work with business development, preconstruction, and construction staff to develop compelling project‑specific content.
Lead the creation of innovative imagery to represent technical data or metrics, organizational information, project and staff information, or procedural materials.
Ensure the creation of visually appealing marketing materials including the design, layout, content, and production of materials for proposals, business templates, and digital/printed brochures.
Review and edit copy for spelling, grammar, AP style, consistency, accuracy, readability, and branding.
Oversee the management and implementation of our CRM database to ensure data is current and accurate for opportunities, projects, and people.
Basic Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree in Journalism, Marketing, English, Fine Arts, Business, Engineering, Communications, Advertising, Graphic Design, or similar, or equivalent relevant work experience.
At least 15 years in proposal management or marketing with advanced working knowledge of Adobe Creative Cloud – advanced skills in InDesign, with tertiary skills in Illustrator and Photoshop.
At least 5 years leading other team members directly and managing their work product and career development.
Advanced user of Microsoft 365 (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Teams, SharePoint, and Outlook).
Prior work experience in a proposal generation/management/production (preferably in the construction industry with focus on water/wastewater or industrial projects/markets).
Strong technical writing, editing, and formatting skills.
Solid organizational abilities and time‑management skills to multi‑task in a fast‑paced environment and work under pressure, meeting multiple deadlines.
Competitive nature and drive to continuously improve processes and content to develop winning submittals.
Passion for learning and identifying new ways to display information and improve pursuit and marketing materials and implementing new technologies to differentiate from competitors.
Detail‑oriented team‑player with the ability to multitask.
Ability to produce high‑quality deliverables under strict deadlines.
Must work in an office setting in Phoenix, AZ.
Must submit a resume and an online portfolio or previous works examples to be considered.
Preferred Qualifications
10+ years leading proposal and marketing efforts in the construction industry.
Proven results developing pursuit materials for projects exceeding $250M in value.
Experience leading proposal development and marketing efforts in water, wastewater, or industrial markets.
Prior experience managing the entire pursuit cycle including strategic decision making, opportunity tracking, proposal and interview deliverable development, and other supportive marketing efforts coordinated to facilitate sales and business development or recruiting efforts.
