Summary Reporting to the Director, Service, Life Sciences, the Life Science Engineer, Supervisor is responsible for providing leadership to assigned engineers within the region to organize workflow to provide excellent and efficient customer services and establish performance improvement objects and goals for increase in quality and performance. This individual will also perform preventative maintenance, calibration, and validation of equipment ranging from simple devices such as water purification, scales/ balances, centrifuges, freezers/LN2 storage units/refrigerators, incubators, and humidity chambers to high performance liquid chromatography (HPLC/UPLC), and Fast protein liquid chromatography, gas chromatography, single quadrupole and triple quadrupole mass spectrometers or equivalent instruments.
Responsibilities
Oversee the engineering work schedule of multiple locations, or a single facility with multiple engineers
Collaborate with the Director, Service on site specific metrics, KPIs, and performance of the engineers
Partner with Regional Directors to understand site specific variances and execute plans for service delivery optimization
Deliver service solutions within assigned area for all instruments, equipment and laboratory supplies, within assigned install base
Install, maintain, troubleshoot, and support multi-vendor product suites of chromatography and mass spectrometry equipment systems
Manage customer expectations by communicating work performed and providing a follow-up plan when necessary
Deliver system level training to employees and customers at customer sites
Audit work orders for accuracy and timely documentation of work performed
Train, motivate and coach employees to ensure attentive, efficient customer service, and safety procedures
Assess employee performance and provide feedback and training opportunities
Develop standards for operation, maintenance, and calibration of instruments
Ensure compliance with RENOVO and customer site safety policies and procedures
Analyze service data and make recommendations for technical and/or business improvements
Partner with Renovo sourcing department alternate parts and service sourcing and negotiate discounting with OEMs
Assist Engineering Manager with special projects, identifying resources and training needs
Working with Renovo site engineers, ensure rolling 12 month PM schedule is accurate
Support periodic operations and business reviews
Responsible for GxP validations of SOPs, modifying SOPs, writing and confirming procedures and work instructions
Oversees compliance of engineers in GxP and supports GxP service events
Performs other duties as assigned by your Manager, including escorting vendors
Qualifications
5+ years experience in a related field required
Extensive knowledge of mass spectrometry and liquid chromatography instrumentation is required
Experience as a service engineer or application scientist for one or several MS manufacturers preferred
1+ years of leadership experience preferred
Education and Special Training
Minimum Bachelor’s Degree in Chemistry or Sciences required

Ontime completion of safety trainings assignments
Physical Requirements
The Life Sciences Engineer, Supervisor must be able to speak, hear, see, read, write, type, dial, reach, bend, climb, crawl, crouch, kneel, squat, and twist
Must have near vision, far vision, depth perception, and be able to distinguish colors
Must have sensory ability to distinguish hot, cold, range of temperatures, surfaces, fine motor skills, manual dexterity, and detect/distinguish odors
May be required to stand and/ or kneel for long periods of time while performing duties
Must be able to work safely with chemicals and hazardous materials
Must be able to carry or lift up to 50 pounds frequently
