We are seeking a Life Sciences Engineering Supervisor to support a regional team responsible for maintaining and optimizing a broad range of laboratory technologies. This role provides hands‑on technical support while also guiding a group of field engineers, ensuring smooth workflow coordination, consistent service delivery, and measurable performance improvements across assigned sites. The supervisor will work with instruments spanning basic laboratory equipment—such as centrifuges, balances, environmental chambers, and cold storage systems—to advanced analytical platforms including liquid chromatography systems (HPLC/UPLC), protein and gas chromatography systems, and various mass spectrometry technologies (single and triple quad, or comparable systems).
Base pay range $120,000.00/yr - $130,000.00/yr
Position Overview
Coordinate daily and weekly engineering activities across multiple facilities or a large single site with several engineers.
Work with service leadership to set and track operational metrics, KPIs, and quality benchmarks.
Collaborate with regional management to identify and address site‑specific needs and opportunities for improved service efficiency.
Oversee technical support for a diverse portfolio of laboratory instruments, ensuring reliable installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and ongoing customer support.
Provide multi‑vendor service support for chromatography and mass spectrometry platforms.
Maintain strong client relationships by clearly communicating completed work and outlining next steps or follow‑up requirements.
Offer system‑level training for both internal staff and end users at customer locations.
Review service documentation and work orders for completeness, accuracy, and timely submission.
Mentor and coach team members to promote strong customer service, adherence to safety practices, and sound technical performance.
Conduct performance assessments and recommend training or development opportunities.
Create or refine procedures related to the operation, maintenance, and calibration of laboratory instruments.
Enforce safety protocols and ensure compliance with site policies and regulatory expectations.
Evaluate service data and propose improvements in workflow, technical practices, or operational processes.
Partner with sourcing teams on alternative parts procurement and negotiate cost‑effective service options with equipment manufacturers.
Support special initiatives by identifying required skills or resources and helping define project plans.
Work with site engineers to maintain an accurate rolling preventative‑maintenance schedule.
Participate in periodic business or operational reviews as needed.
Lead or support GxP activities, including validation of SOPs, updates to procedures, and documentation of service events in regulated environments.
Perform additional tasks or vendor coordination as required by management.
Required Qualifications
Minimum of 5 years of experience in a related life sciences or instrumentation service role.
Strong technical expertise with mass spectrometry and liquid chromatography systems.
Prior experience as a field service engineer or applications specialist supporting MS platforms is highly beneficial.
At least one year of supervisory or team leadership experience preferred.
Education
Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry or a related scientific discipline required.
