Director, Computer-Aided Engineering Stanley Black & Decker, Inc. – Towson, MD – Hybrid – Base salary: $131,300–$201,500 per year.

The Role Stanley Black & Decker is seeking a Director of Advanced Methods and Computer-Aided Engineering (CAE). In this role you will be a strategic leader responsible for driving the vision, development, and execution of advanced methods and CAE initiatives across the organization. You will lead the integration of advanced simulation, modeling, and analysis technologies to support product innovation, quality, and operational efficiency. This role requires a strategic thinker with a proven track record in team leadership.

Lead the central Engineering CAE department, setting strategic direction and overseeing all simulation, modeling, and analysis activities.

Collaborate with all global R&D centers, engineering, product development, and manufacturing teams to integrate CAE methodologies into the product lifecycle.

Develop and implement best practices, standards, and processes for CAE across multiple business units.

Explore, identify, evaluate, and drive adoption of new CAE tools and methodologies to maintain competitive advantage with the latest cutting‑edge technologies.

Manage and mentor a team of CAE engineers and analysts, fostering a culture of innovation and continuous improvement.

Oversee resource allocation, budgeting, and project prioritization within the CAE function.

Ensure compliance with industry standards, regulatory requirements, and company policies.

Build partnerships with external vendors, academic institutions, national labs and technology providers.

Present technical findings and strategic recommendations to executive leadership and stakeholders.

15+ years of experience in CAE, simulation, or related engineering disciplines, with at least 5 years in a leadership role.

Master’s or Ph.D. in Engineering, Applied Mathematics, Physics, or related field highly preferred.

Proven track record of influencing and implementing CAE strategies in a complex, multidisciplinary environment.

Experience with complex multi‑domain based system modeling with Dymola, TwinBuilder, or other Modelica‑based platforms.

Experience with Matlab/Simulink/Stateflow for embedded system design and MIL/SIL/HIL a plus.

Leadership experience from a global company known for innovation and engineering excellence.

Strong communication skills – oral and written – complemented by the ability to develop and deliver technical presentations.

Collaborates and builds consensus with stakeholders and teams to arrive at opportunities that drive innovation.

Ability to influence and lead cross‑functional teams.

Expert builder of internal and external relationships; inspiring leader to team, colleagues, and broader organization.

Well‑versed in change management and demonstrated capability of managing change globally.
