Overview

Our client, a growing family office based in San Mateo, is seeking an Interim Accounting Manager to provide hands‑on accounting support during a period of growth and systems automation. This role is designed to help support internal stakeholders by ensuring accurate financial reporting, clean and timely bookkeeping, and readiness for tax and advisory needs while day‑to‑day demands continue.

This is a highly hands‑on, execution‑focused role requiring strong ERP experience and the ability to step in quickly.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support ongoing financial reporting needs for internal stakeholders
  • Assist with day‑to‑day bookkeeping and general ledger activity
  • Ensure financial records are accurate, current, and well‑documented during system automation
  • Partner with tax advisors to support tax preparation and data readiness
  • Prepare schedules, reconciliations, and supporting documentation as needed
  • Assist with ERP optimization, data cleanup, and process alignment
  • Address backlog created by growth and evolving systems
  • Respond to ad hoc financial requests from leadership and stakeholders
  • Help document processes and recommend improvements to support scalability

Requirements

  • 7+ years of progressive accounting experience; family office, private investment, or closely held company experience preferred
  • Proven experience in a hands‑on Accounting Manager or Assistant Controller role
  • ERP system experience is required (implementation, optimization, or heavy daily use)
  • Strong foundation in general ledger accounting, bookkeeping, and financial reporting
  • Comfortable operating in a dynamic, evolving environment with changing priorities
  • Highly organized, detail‑oriented, and execution focused
  • Ability to work 100% onsite in San Mateo
  • Interim assignment expected to last 3–6 months
  • Role created due to company growth and increased operational complexity
  • Immediate opportunity to provide stability and support during a critical phase
