We are seeking a results-driven Senior Trial Attorney with a commanding courtroom presence, strong leadership abilities, and a true passion for advocacy. Responsibilities

  • Lead strategy, development, and execution of complex litigation matters from inception through verdict
  • Serve as lead trial counsel on high-value personal injury and elder abuse cases
  • Supervise, mentor, and train Associate Trial Attorneys and litigation team members
  • Develop litigation strategies in coordination with the Managing Attorney
  • Manage client relationships and maintain exceptional communication standards
  • Oversee all aspects of discovery: written discovery, depositions, expert discovery
  • Draft, review, and refine high-quality pleadings, motions, and memoranda
  • Lead mediations and settlement negotiations with full settlement authority
  • Prepare clients and witnesses for depositions, hearings, and trial
  • Advocate at depositions, hearings, mediations, arbitrations, and trials
  • Try a minimum of 5 trials per year to verdict
  • Provide leadership in trial preparation, execution, and post-trial briefs
  • Participate in litigation team meetings and collaborate with support staff
  • Submit quarterly reporting of fees earned to ownership
  • Uphold firm values and professional standards in all work performed
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by the Managing Attorney or Partners

Qualifications & Skills

  • Active California State Bar membership in good standing
  • 15+ years of litigation and trial experience (personal injury preferred)
  • Several 1st-chair trials to verdict with proven results
  • Ability to manage and supervise 50+ active litigation files
  • Strong leadership and mentoring capabilities
  • Excellent oral advocacy, legal writing, and research skills
  • Advanced knowledge of civil procedure, evidence, and California PI law
  • Proficiency with Litify, Filevine, CasePeer, or comparable systems
  • Strong technology skills (Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and legal tools)
  • Exceptional time management, organization, and professional communication
  • Team-oriented attitude with ability to collaborate across departments
  • Demonstrated ability to meet and exceed individual, department, and firm performance goals

Trial Performance

  • Try 5+ cases to verdict annually
  • Effectively prepare clients and witnesses

Case Management

  • Manage a docket of 50+ active litigation cases
  • Ensure timely progress through discovery, motions, and trial phases

Litigation Outcomes

  • Achieve verdicts and settlements aligned with firm benchmarks
  • Maximize client recoveries through strategic advocacy

Leadership

  • Mentor and support Associate Trial Attorneys and litigation team
  • Lead team meetings and maintain collaboration

Client Relations

  • Maintain 90%+ positive client satisfaction
  • Communicate proactively and manage expectations

Pleadings & Motions

  • Draft and review filings with accuracy, clarity, and timeliness

Discovery

  • Oversee all phases of discovery
  • Maintain compliance with deadlines and rules

Settlement & Mediation

  • Conduct effective negotiations
  • Achieve settlements consistent with firm goals

Reporting & Performance

  • Submit accurate quarterly fee reports on time
