Oracle Finance Functional Consultant
Boston, MA(all 5days onsite) Contract Position- W2. An Oracle Finance Functional Consultant is a specialist who works with businesses to implement, optimize, and support Oracle ERP (primarily Oracle E‑Business Suite, Fusion/Oracle Cloud ERP, or Oracle R12) focusing on the Finance modules.
Role Overview
A consultant in this role connects business finance processes with Oracle ERP systems. They do not do coding (that is technical consultant work), but they configure system settings and ensure finance operations run smoothly in the ERP.
Key Responsibilities
- Requirement gathering from finance teams
- Designing financial process workflows in Oracle
- Configuring modules like AP, AR, GL, FA, CM, CE, etc.
- Supporting month‑end/year‑end closing
- Testing: SIT, UAT, Regression
- Training end users
- Writing functional design documents (FD, BR100, MD050, AIM/OUM methodology)
- Supporting Go‑Live and Post‑Go‑Live operations
Core Oracle Modules You Must Know
- GL – General Ledger
- AP – Accounts Payable
- AR – Accounts Receivable
- FA – Fixed Assets
- CM/CE – Cash Management
- Tax Engine – GST/VAT setup (important for India)
- Expense Management (OIC / OTM) – optional based on project
- FSM – Functional Setup Manager (if working with Oracle Fusion Cloud)
- OTBI Reporting
- BI Publisher
Skills Required
- Finance Knowledge – Accounting principles, costing, IFRS/GAAP, taxation
- ERP Knowledge – Oracle EBS R12 or Oracle Cloud ERP
- Soft Skills – Business communication, stakeholder management
- Documentation – MD050, AIM/OUM methodology, Solution Design Docs
Preferred Background
- B.Com / M.Com / MBA Finance
- CA/ICWA background is a huge plus
