The Lead Reservoir Engineer will serve as Empire’s primary technical authority for reservoir evaluation, asset optimization, and development planning. This role drives economic decisions, identifies value-accretive opportunities, and partners closely with geology, operations, and leadership to maximize asset performance and long‑term growth.

  • Lead technical decision‑making for asset selection, drilling targets, and recompletion opportunities.
  • Integrate geological, geophysical, petrophysical, and production data to identify high‑quality reservoirs, benches, and intervals.
  • Support and lead the asset team in generating, ranking, and presenting drilling and recompletion opportunities.
  • Conduct well performance diagnostics and provide recommendations to optimize production and economic results.
  • Design and refine horizontal well completions in collaboration with the completions team.
  • Build, maintain, and run ARIES economic models; prepare AFE packages.
  • Assist in managing drilling schedules, incorporating lease expirations, capital timing, and operational constraints.
  • Participate in quarterly and annual reserves evaluations.
  • Conduct technical A&D due diligence and evaluate acquisition targets.
  • Contribute to annual budgets, capital allocation, and long‑range planning.

Knowledge, Skills & Experience

  • Minimum 7–8 years of reservoir engineering experience (10+ preferred).
  • Demonstrated success selecting high‑return drilling locations, recompletions, and acquisition targets.
  • Advanced proficiency with ARIES for reserves and economic modeling.
  • Strong skills in decline‑curve analysis, type‑curve creation, reserves estimation, and cash‑flow modeling.
  • Experience with SQL Server, MS Access, Spotfire, or comparable analytics tools.
  • Proficiency with IHS, Enverus/Prism/DI, Petra, and RTA tools.
  • Python or coding experience a plus.
  • P.E. license preferred.

Required Qualifications

  • B.S. in Petroleum Engineering required (M.S. preferred).
  • P.E. credential preferred.
