Academic Professional Track (Non‑Tenure): Associate Professor of the Practice or Professor of the Practice

The Department of International Affairs in the Bush School of Government and Public Service at Texas A&M University invites applications for a full‑time non‑tenure track Associate or Full Professor of the Practice to work in the School's Washington, D.C. teaching site.

The position will be for a 10‑month academic term, with the possibility of renewal. Start date: January 5, 2026. The successful candidate will teach six courses per academic year, including INTA 652: The Role of Intelligence in Security Affairs, and serve as Director of the Master of National Security and Intelligence (MNSI) Program.

As Director, the candidate will lead curriculum development, stakeholder engagement, program innovation, and administrative duties to prepare students for careers in the intelligence community, federal agencies, and national security sectors.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead strategic planning and execution for the MNSI program, aligning objectives with the mission of the Bush School.
  • Collaborate in the organization of school site events, including graduation celebrations and orientation programs.
  • Maintain regular correspondence with students to support success and engagement.
  • Serve on selection committees, including the NSTAR Program Selection Committee, to guide student development and program alignment.

Teaching

  • Instruct three graduate courses each semester, including INTA 652 (required).
  • Teach two additional courses based on expertise in an Intelligence Community specialty.
  • Develop high‑impact, practice‑based course content and facilitate seminars and capstone projects.

Curriculum and Assessment Oversight

  • Coordinate guest lecturer visits to the D.C. site.
  • Support recruitment, onboarding, and integration of part‑time faculty.
  • Collaborate with the program director to develop new courses and update offerings.
  • Foster and evaluate capstone projects aligned with employer and agency needs.
  • Lead ongoing MNSI and MIP program assessment and continuous improvement initiatives.

Faculty Support

  • Coordinate guest lecturer visits, scheduling, and stakeholder engagement.
  • Support recruitment, onboarding, and integration of part‑time faculty.

Industry and Agency Engagement

  • Cultivate relationships with government agencies and the Intelligence Community for internships, placements, and collaborative learning.
  • Engage private sector, including defense and intelligence contractors, for student activities.
  • Promote academic collaboration with consortia and peer institutions, supporting joint career fairs, student conferences, and research initiatives.

External Representation

  • Represent the MNSI program at conferences, career events, and strategic partnerships.
  • Collaborate with admissions to support recruitment of prospective students.
  • Advance program objectives through development and philanthropic initiatives in coordination with school leadership.

Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in national security, intelligence studies, international relations, public policy, economics, finance, or a related field, or an extraordinary record of accomplishment in the Intelligence Community, national security sector, or related agencies, plus significant teaching experience at the college level.
  • Demonstrated excellence in graduate‑level teaching, curriculum development, and academic program administration.
  • Proven leadership in academic and professional engagement, including stakeholder collaboration and external representation.
  • Outstanding organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills.
