Senior Associate Scientist/Scientist – Immunology & Cell Biology
Company Overview:
Prellis Biologics is a dynamic startup revolutionizing the field of immunology and therapeutic development. We are developing next-generation technologies to harness the full potential of the immune system, driving innovation in drug discovery.
Position Overview:
We are seeking a passionate and skilled immunologist to help advance our pioneering in vitro immune system platform. In this high-impact role, you will collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to design and execute high-impact functional assays and contribute directly to the development of novel therapeutic antibodies and T cell receptors (TCRs). This role requires a strong, hands‑on presence in the laboratory.
Key Responsibilities:
- Experimental Design & Execution: Design, execute, and rigorously analyze complex cell‑based experiments aligned with critical research objectives.
- Cell Culture & Aseptic Technique: Isolate, culture, and maintain primary immune cells using strict aseptic techniques.
- Immune Profiling: Perform and analyze multiparameter flow cytometry and cell sorting for comprehensive immune profiling and functional characterization.
- Assay Development & Analysis:
- Develop, optimize, and execute immune functional assays.
- Utilize innovative approaches to stimulate and characterize immune cell responses in vitro.
- Scientific Contribution: Contribute deep scientific insight to the design and development of in vitro immune processes and antibody/TCR generation strategies.
- Laboratory Commitment: Maintain a hands‑on presence in the lab (60–80% of the time) in a fast‑paced research environment.
- Compliance & Documentation:
- Ensure all experimental work strictly complies with established protocols, SOPs, and regulatory standards.
- Maintain accurate, detailed, and traceable experimental records.
- Analyze, interpret, and present findings at internal meetings and project reviews.
- Actively support troubleshooting, protocol refinement, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Collaborate effectively with cross‑functional teams to align project goals and share technical expertise.
Qualifications:
- Education: M.S. or Ph.D. in Immunology, Cell Biology, Biotechnology, or a related scientific discipline.
- Experience: 5+ years of relevant laboratory experience in immunology or cell biology (industry experience is highly preferred).
- Core Scientific Knowledge: Strong theoretical and practical understanding of adaptive immunity, particularly B and T cell biology, including cell‑cell interactions and ligand‑receptor signaling pathways.
- Technical Expertise:
- Proficiency in mammalian cell culture, immune cell isolation, and maintenance.
- Demonstrated expertise in multiparameter flow cytometry, including panel design, staining, acquisition, and complex data analysis.
- Experience in antibody development and/or TCR analysis.
- Experience in antigen‑specific T cell activation.
- Hands‑on experience with immune functional assays, ELISA, and general protein analysis techniques.
- Expertise in experimental design, data interpretation, and complex immunological data analysis.
- Professional Skills:
- Familiarity with laboratory compliance standards, SOPs, and documentation best practices.
- Strong organizational skills, exceptional attention to detail, and the ability to work effectively both independently and collaboratively.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills for data reporting and documentation.
Preferred Skills & Experience:
- Knowledge of immune tolerance, vaccine development, or systems immunology.
- Background in protein or sequence bioinformatics.
- Familiarity with molecular biology techniques.
- Skilled in advanced data analysis tools such as FlowJo and GraphPad Prism.
- Prior experience in drug discovery, vaccine, and/or antibody development programs.
- Experience in project management.
Key Attributes:
- Rigor & Compliance: Detail‑oriented with a strong sense of responsibility for scientific rigor, compliance, and thorough documentation.
- Adaptability: Proactive, collaborative, and adaptable in a dynamic, fast‑paced research and startup setting.
