Director, Risk Advisory Services
Job Summary Working under the authority of a Practice Leader or Managing Director, the Assurance Director, Risk Advisory Services (RAS) manages and delivers high‑value solutions to multiple clients in the areas of Internal Auditing, internal control, business risk assessment, Enterprise Risk Management, business process improvement, Sarbanes‑Oxley compliance, information technology audit & control, financial and operational audit, business conduct, and fraud/forensic investigations. The Director leads a team through all stages of engagement, ensuring exceptional client service and high‑quality deliverables while developing new business opportunities and overseeing project administration (time entry, client contract administration, billings, collections and adjustments).
Key Responsibilities
Acts as the high‑level client contact for all questions and information.
Conducts informational interviews and facilitates meetings with client management.
Works closely with the engagement Practice Leader or Managing Director to communicate control gaps and suggested improvements to client Audit Committees and management.
Assures the client service team analyzes client processes, risk, and controls accurately.
Oversees development of risk‑based audit plans and efficient project plans.
Reviews, approves, and seeks engagement budget approvals; identifies opportunities to improve engagement efficiencies.
Prepares periodic and timely billings, collections and makes recommendations for adjustments to engagement realization.
Directs managers and staff to utilize research aids and develop understanding of client industry.
Maintains strategic relationships with client personnel.
Prepares formal and informal presentations for client meetings.
Collaborates with RAS Practice Leader or Managing Directors to expand market presence and bring best solutions to clients and prospects.
Identifies new business opportunities and communicates them to practice Partner or Managing Director.
Works with the Practice Leader or Managing Director to develop draft proposals and reports.
Manages marketing and business development activities within practice.
Develops thought leadership through whitepapers and presentations on topics relevant to clients.
Maintains a positive demeanor, learning attitude, and client service mentality with managers, seniors and staff.
Meets business development targets established by the Practice Leader.
Travels up to 75% of the time, as needed.
Other duties as required.
Supervisory Responsibilities
Supervises workload of RAS Managers, Senior Associates and Associates; reviews work product.
Ensures RAS Managers, Senior Associates and Associates are trained on all relevant software.
Evaluates performance of RAS capital and assists in goal development.
Delivers performance feedback and completes evaluations in accordance with Firm guidance.
Acts as a mentor and presents a professional, positive attitude toward client and firm personnel.
Education
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Management Information Systems, or Business Intelligence (required).
MBA or other relevant advanced degree (preferred).
Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
10+ years of experience within a public accounting firm or Fortune 1000 company performing risk assessments, internal audits, Sarbanes‑Oxley readiness, internal control assessments, and management consulting as a subject‑matter expert.
Experience performing audits of specific industries (manufacturing, retail, distribution, energy, financial services, etc.).
5+ years of supervisory experience.
Experience in client marketing and multiple client pursuits and proposal efforts.
Public accounting environment experience (preferred).
License / Certifications
CIA, CPA, CISA, or equivalent certifications (required).
Software Proficiency
Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) – required.
ACL and/or IDEA, Power BI and MS Access – preferred.

Multitasks independently and within a group environment.
Collabors with partners, managing directors and directors across service lines.
