Job Overview The Flow Cytometry Technologist is responsible for clinical flow cytometry testing with a focus on leukemia or lymphoma immunophenotyping, Stem cell enumeration and Lymphocyte subsets, T and B cell counts. A high level of technical knowledge and application of that knowledge to testing, clinical relevance, and complex problem‑solving skills is required.
Qualifications
Required:
Bachelor of Science Degree in Medical Technology, Clinical Laboratory Science, or Chemical/Physical/Biological Science.
Experience in Flow Cytometry.
Preferred:
ASCP Certification.
3 to 5 years clinical laboratory experience.

Job Responsibilities
Completes all aspects of leukemia-lymphoma immunophenotyping, including sample preparation, staining, acquisition, and data analysis using established protocols.
Demonstrates knowledge and application of theory and clinical relevance of Flow Cytometry with the ability to identify abnormal cell populations, understand general immunophenotypic results, and know how to proceed in variant situations.
Recognizes and takes appropriate action in response to critical or unexpected results and communicates effectively with Pathologists.
Assists with the development, optimization, and validation of new tests as requested by the Flow Supervisor.
Performs all duties at a high level of competency and actively participates in problem solving using advanced level of decision‑making skills.
Demonstrates knowledge and application of computer systems used in Flow Cytometry analysis.
Determines the acceptability of specimens for testing according to established guidelines.
Accurately performs cell counts and makes dilutions to ensure optimal staining.
Prepares reagent stock, antibody cocktails, and working solutions.
Monitors proper use and consumption of reagents, materials, and consumables.
Assists in cleaning and maintenance of lab equipment.
Prepares stains on peripheral blood smears, bone marrow aspirates – Wright Stain, iron, enzyme cytochemistry as needed.
Shows initiative and team‑oriented mindset.
Exhibits excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
Projects professionalism in appearance and conduct at all times.
Trains and mentors new staff or students as needed.
Promotes professionalism, lab excellence, continuous learning, and adherence to best practices.
Collaborates effectively and professionally with all departments and team members, fostering positive communication, cooperation, and quality service delivery.
