Job Title: Phlebotomist IJob Description
The primary role of a Phlebotomist I is to support various duties including troubleshooting, training, and workflow recommendations. This position requires proficiency in blood draws, specimen labeling, centrifuging, recording maintenance data, and decontamination processes. The phlebotomist will collect and store specimens according to established procedures while explaining the venipuncture process and other specimen collections clearly and courteously.
Perform blood draws using straight needles and butterfly needles.
+ Answer telephone inquiries and read laboratory results.
Valid Phlebotomy certification for the state of employment.
+ Minimum of 6 months' experience in performing venipunctures in a fast-paced lab or hospital setting.
+ Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
+ High School Diploma or GED.
+ 0-2 years of experience in phlebotomy.
Strong customer service skills.
+ The phlebotomist will work independently in a small doctor's office with a designated lab area. The role involves standing for most of the shift and handling around 15-35 blood draws daily, catering to adults and geriatric patients aged 18-90. The initial training includes a 3-day virtual session in Chesapeake, followed by onsite training. This is a Contract position based out of Elizabeth City, NC.
