Emergency Veterinarian – San Ramon, CA VEG ER for Pets is seeking an Emergency Veterinarian to join our 24/7, 365‑day veterinary emergency team in San Ramon. This role is perfect for a passionate, experienced vet who thrives in fast‑paced, multidisciplinary settings.

The Job As an Emergency Veterinarian, you’ll handle any emergency that comes through the door—routine cases, complex surgeries, and exotic animals. You’ll be a leader on the hospital floor, empowered by mentorship, continuous education, and a collaborative culture.

What You’ll Do

Answer medical questions over the phone.

See patients promptly through VEG Triage and VEG Spikes.

Gather signalment, presenting complaint, vitals, and perform physical exams.

Perform diagnostics such as ultrasounds, X‑rays, bloodwork, and biopsies.

Diagnose each pet and create a diagnostic and therapeutic plan.

Communicate diagnosis and treatment options directly with customers.

Prepare and present estimates to customers.

Create and review accurate medical records.

Explain the value of tests and treatments to customers.

Perform minor and major emergency surgeries.

Perform endoscopic procedures.

Educate customers on after‑care and preventive measures.

What You Need

A DVM or equivalent degree.

Experience in emergency medicine, including soft‑tissue surgery and endoscopy.

Thrives in team‑oriented environments.

Capacity to stand for prolonged periods, kneel, and work on the floor; able to lift up to 25 kg alone and up to 40 kg with assistance.

Willingness to work in a noisy environment with strong or unpleasant odors.

Availability to work nights, weekends, and holidays on a rotating or as‑needed basis.

Ability to perform in fast‑paced settings with diverse staff and clients.

How We Invest in You

Competitive base salary (range $140,000–$350,000) with expected base $180,000–$200,000, plus discretionary production bonus targets.
