Tesla Motors, Inc.
Low Voltage Electrical Test Engineer
Tesla Motors, Inc., Palo Alto, California, United States, 94306
What to Expect
We are looking for hands-on engineers to join our team and work directly with innovative technology in our products! You will focus on hardware validation and reliability of Low Voltage systems. Your job is to collaborate with teams across Tesla to ensure these products meet our high reliability standards. Your responsibilities span across the entire development cycle - from working alongside Design Teams during initial conceptualization, to final sign-off with data-driven demonstrated reliability. We are the knowledge holders of how to properly validate the products and work cross-functionally throughout the organization to ensure proper scope and timely execution are achieved.
What You'll Do
Own and drive hardware validation efforts for low voltage programs. Your job is to become a product expert, figure out how it could fail and collaborate with design partners to drive changes
Develop and maintain automation-focused test software to streamline execution, data collection and data analysis
Design and build custom test equipment such as test PCBAs, harnesses and fixtures to make validation efficient, modular and repeatable
Manage tests from setup through execution. Coordinate test resources and own validation schedules to communicate status with program managers
Work with the design partners, reliability team, and suppliers to root cause test failures and arrive at a corrective action
Collaborate with test technicians to perform component validation by simulating realistic and/or accelerated usage & environmental conditions
What You'll Bring
Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, or equivalent experience
Proven technical experience through internships, industry, passion projects, academic / extracurricular activities
Excellent grasp of engineering fundamentals with experience using standard lab equipment (power supplies, electronic loads, oscilloscopes, DMM’s, etc.)
Coding experience, preferably Python, for automation and data processing
Demonstrated experience debugging and troubleshooting technical problems
Desire to be hands-on, understand how to interact with a system and automate repeatable tasks. You thrive on efficiency, and hate to see someone waste their time on something a script, fixture, or robotic system could do
