What to Expect
Tesla's Power Electronics group is looking for a skilled and motivated electrical engineer to design and develop power magnetic components for power converters intended to be used in vehicle and/or stationary storage platforms.
What You'll Do
Design and development of magnetic components for power converters intended to be used in vehicle and/or energy storage applications
Work closely with power electronics and mechanical design engineers to develop low cost high efficiency magnetics components (inductors, transformers, etc.)
Start to finish ownership of magnetic components - from specification to design, prototype, testing and manufacturing
What You'll Bring
Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent experience
4 or more years of experience with magnetic component designs for high frequency power electronic converters
Solid understanding of electro-magnetic theory, properties of magnetic materials and winding techniques for high frequency magnetic components
Good understanding of thermal, mechanical and packaging challenges associated with design of magnetics
Experience with core selection, winding design, conductor selection (Litz/Foil/Solid/PCB), loss modeling and loss characterization in inductors and transformers
Familiarity with power converter and electro-magnetic circuit simulation tools (Maxwell, Ansys etc.)
Knowledge of UL and CE electrical safety requirements relevant to the design of magnetic components

Expected Compensation $103,200 - $215,640 annual salary + cash and stock awards + benefits
Pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements dependent on the position offered.
